RosieRoo Posted September 29, 2023 #1 Share Posted September 29, 2023 I know I have read a lot about the dreaded slides that pass through some of the SJ balconies on the Prima. For anyone who has actually sailed in one of these Family Suites, can you tell me are any decks better than others, meaning larger open space or less obstruction? Do these suites come with actual perks like the suites outside the Haven on some of the other ships? Breakfast in a specialty restaurant? Thanks in advance for any info. CatBoiler Posted September 29, 2023 #2 Share Posted September 29, 2023 I haven't been on the Prima yet, we sail in about 3 weeks. But if you look at the deck plans, you can kind of see how the balconies vary. For instance, based on the plans, I'd totally avoid decks 9 & 12. And on some of the decks, one side has a huge balcony and the other side is tiny. For perks, check out this post
RosieRoo Posted September 29, 2023 Author #3 Share Posted September 29, 2023 @CatBoiler, thanks. I had seen that thread about perks, but was wondering if that was still the case. Sometimes they change things in the blink of an eye. I’ve seen a few pics and it seems some of the balconies are worse than others.

mnd_brooke Posted March 1 #5 Share Posted March 1 I sailed in room 13208 and we loved it! The patio was huge and the clear part of the slide was right by our patio so we got to watch people get stuck all the time! Some of the perks are you are invited to have breakfast and lunch at Cagney's everyday.. the food and service was always great. Also the concierge was usually in there in the mornings and was able to help us out with any questions and such. You do get some priority seating at the shows and you can go in right in time and we were escorted to our seats. Also you get snacks everyday from the butler and he stopped by everyday to make sure we didn't need anything. You get priority embark and disembark after the Haven guests. If you have any other questions I'll be happy to try and answer them!

Did you get this too in the suite? Or just on the embankment and disembarking ports?
dexddd Posted March 2 #7 Share Posted March 2 Other than embarkation port once in terminal, never have we seen escort back onto ship on NCL.

To get back on we were allowed to go back through the Haven line to go through security to get back on the ship 2
Martink45 Posted March 17 #9 Share Posted March 17 SJ, in my limited opinion, is a great room. On some decks the slide might be more of an obstruction than others but the additional room with the separate bedroom with king bed far, far outweighs the view. Additionally, it is kind of nice to receive a bit of pampering. Already looking to repeat #15196 on Prima next January.
Martink45 Posted April 16 #10 Share Posted April 16 #15196 was not available 1/17/25, so we will be in #11812. Probably a bit more obstructed view but nothing we can't live with considering all the other positives. I got the impression that the SJs are already about sold out. The Missus loves these suites and that is good enough for me. We will be sailing on Getaway in October in Club suite with larger balcony, M6. It will be interesting to see how well she survives in the smaller quarters with no concierge.

We were not in one of these rooms so I can’t speak to that. I would recommend to not stay below the haven sundeck, very loud overnight when they move around chairs. Rare Sailing12Away Posted April 22 #12 Share Posted April 22 There are tons of photos and videos here: https://cruisedeckplans.com/ships/Norwegian-Prima The balcony is the little regular sized rectangle looking out the side of the ship. The deck plans are misleading.

This is a picture from our stateroom. I'll let you count the number of rooms that actually have a slide cutting through their balcony

We like the SJ suites so much that I would book one even with the double slide going thru part of the balconey. The slides don't affect the deck off the living room, only the deck off the bedroom. The room layout is so great it feels like home. Large mount of space on both sides of the bed. Bathroom has one sink which suits us fine. Also having the suite amenities like butler, plus breakfast and lunch in Cagney's etc. are a real plus. Our room is shown in BirdTravels photo. It was the one in front of the clear spot on the slide. Also note in that picture the deck most effected by the slide is not the SJ suite but the balcony room next to it.
