Tidra00 Posted October 14, 2023 Author #4 Share Posted October 14, 2023 Ok but what if we are at the Pan American Pier. Seems that just Carnival stops at the Old San Juan Pier.

Seems that just Carnival stops at the Old San Juan Pier. That's not true. If a ship of any cruise line is making a port call there's a 99% probability that it will be in Old San Juan. Pan American is used for port calls only if there are too many ships in port to all dock in Old San Juan, which is a rare occurrence. Otherwise Pan American is only used for homeport operations.

cruizinisthebest Posted October 30, 2023 #9 Share Posted October 30, 2023 never been but have heard lots about it. How big is this place and how crowded does it get when ships are docked? I think we are the only ship in port.

Remember Barrachina is very popular with Embassies, Government, the business community, local residents, hotel guests, holidaymakers and visitors from other parts of Puerto Rico, not just with cruise pax. The number of ships in port is almost irrelevant on certain days. Book early, book early…..

Do you need to reserve a spot at this Barrachina for our luggage?

Definitely book dining in advance. However, one previously did leave luggage when not dining, where the fee was $5 per item, and out of courtesy did request/advise in advance. It was recently posted on CC that there was no charge for non-diners, who just rock up, but one has no first hand knowledge of this. But certainly will have a cocktail if we can. Have no problem paying and tipping.. I will reach out to them and see if we need to let them know how many pieces of luggage we'll be leaving with them. mets123 Posted December 20, 2023 #14 Share Posted December 20, 2023 Keep in mind that the pina coladas are pre made and come from a bubbler machine. They were not made to order when I was there last year.
bkrickles1 Posted March 4 #15 Share Posted March 4 Is it a good spot to go to around lunchtime for a drink and an app maybe? Our stop in SJ is pretty short in April and we wouldn't mind a pina colada and a snack.

If one wishes to experience the history and essence of OSJ, then take cocktails and nibbles at El Convento….. take a step back in time and feel the history while enjoying the refreshments.
