@Mom39 please can you share who you booked tea / kimono 👘 with as the ones I’ve seen are $100pp. Thanks

I have never heard of drinks in casino 🎰 being free but I haven’t been on X for a few years!

@Northern Aurora perfect 👌 thanks 🙏

Here is a link to kimono/tea ceremony.  Perhaps the ones you saw included transportation or a Geisha?  Hope this helps.  The Trip Advisor reviews are excellent.  I'm getting so excited about Kyoto 🙂

Also, if you are doing Kyoto on your own... there are plenty of wonderful restaurants near the train station (I hear/read), but I am very excited about the one that our concierge recommended:  https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g298564-d3779815-Reviews-Kura_Kura-Kyoto_Kyoto_Prefecture_Kinki.html

Also, I booked my hotel above Kyoto Station for only $120/night and I'm looking forward to that as well:

And, I'm booking the English-speaking rickshaw guide ahead of time and only doing 30 minutes:

I think these places are priced nicely.  Unfortunately, my tour guide/driver are expensive but hopefully we will find two people to go with us and split the cost.  In my experience, when you want to see a lot, the private tour is the way to go.  But, if you share the cost it is not expensive.

@Mom39 thanks for the tips!
we are going back to Kyoto for 3n after the cruise ends so we can experience it fully. And hopefully at leisure! I have already booked the funky BNA museum hotel.
On our Osaka overnight we are doing deer 🦌 and maid cafes and street food 🍲 !!!

Looks like fun!  Enjoy!  We are doing Tokyo for two nights afterwards in the teen area near Shibuya crossing.  Wish we had more time for Kyoto.  I think I'm going to love it.  Jealous!  I think we are fortunate just to be cruising Japan though. 🙂

I’m booked on Millenium for a Japan cruise in March 2025. There is a plethora of choice of excursions. Any must do/ see recommendations would be appreciated

We’ve booked the Millennium for March 2026 and see a number of excursions in Nagasaki for the Jeju Island stop. How does that work? That’s a long tender…

Jeju is day 8. Nagasaki is day 9.

Must be a mistake.

Just some advice please ,

We are Aussie sailors and given the poor state of our $ and wanting to cruise a Japan itinerary , we will most likely book and inside cabin . The itineraries are heavily port intensive so economics will win out and  we will spend more time off ship and up on deck early and late to compenstae .

We are looking at the August 18 cruise 2025 following our Thailand , Vietnam cruise in January and see many comments about the August heat - - we travel in Asia and Indonesia often and are used to the humidity and wondering if this will be the same in Japan in August .

Also a question re the two itineraries , there is an earlier sail that is slightly different ,sailing further north - any preference from those who have done both ? Thanks

Hey there, this is a very long thread and there are several suggestions way earlier. We plan on October 2025. Having looked for over a year at this cruise, I joined this conversation way back then. There's a lot of good information and hopefully more to come as experiences are posted!

We recently booked the Millenium cruise for August 18, 2025. I have never been to Japan, but my DW has many years ago. It is a long way off, but we too are starting to plan. I have also started a roll call for that cruise but don't expect much activity yet. There is lots of info out there here on CC as well as other sites to sift through. I've read every post on this thread and have already found a wealth of information. If you have not done so, I'd suggest doing the same, you may get the answers you're looking for. We have many Aussie friends scattered along the east coast. We visited Oz last October and November for 7 weeks. I truly hope we get a chance to visit again. It was a wonderful trip. Hope you decide to book the cruise. Stay Safe & Healthy. Cheers.

We originally looked at August with no qualms about heat, but our plans changed to October for other reasons. I'm sure Japan can't be any hotter than last year's summer sizzler in Spain with 107F and the year before in Israel's August heatwave. And of course, we live through Texas summers, too! You'll be fine.

Everything thing is “bigger” in Texas.  Even the weather.
