RoperDK Posted October 29, 2023 #1 Share Posted October 29, 2023 I know Icon and Utopia have both Sea Class and Sky Class Junior Suites. I heard that they were going to convert some regular JS to Sky Class, also. Any more information on that? Would that only be on Oasis and Quantum ships or all ships. I know CK is only on Oasis and Quantum class, but the addition of a few JS that have full suite access could be done on all ships. It appears that Sea Class would still have access to CK for dinner if space is available. Any thoughts on if that will go away? When is this addition of Sky Class JS supposed to occur? Thanks! Rare orville99 Posted October 29, 2023 #2 Share Posted October 29, 2023 (edited) Creating sky JS on any other class of ship other than Oasis, Quantum, or Icon would only benefit RCL’s bottom line. Full suites really don’t get anything additional of any note over a regular JS on lower class ships other than access to the suite lounge. Lower level ships don't have CK and free internet, but full suites do get many amenities. They have priority embark and disembark, suite concierge, reserved seating at shows, free room service, breakfast at a specialty restaurant, continental breakfast, lunch munchies, and nighttime happy hour snacks along with free drinks from 5-8. We spend a lot of time in the suite lounge with the beautiful views to escape the crowds.

I'm assuming that these would become the new category for May 2025 and beyond when they release those sailing dates. I heard that these would be reclassified in Jan. 2024. If so, either Royal would give use the new amenities at the current booking price (not likely) or move us to another JS involuntarily (definitely not happy about that proposition). We think that the deck 6 cabins are the best location on the ship!

We think that the deck 6 cabins are the best location on the ship! The new category rolls out with the new itineraries being released. All existing itineraries will remain as regular junior suites. Basically all sailings through April 2025 remain as the regular Junior suites and this will only apply to sailings after April 2025 with the exception of Utopia and Icon where they were available from the start. Sorry you aren't getting the perks retroactive Edited October 29, 2023 by Ourusualbeach

Priority embarkation also applies to a standard JS, and the breakfast menu in the specialty restaurant is identical to the sit down breakfast menu in the MDR that is available to everyone, so the only real benefits accrued in that upcharge are free room service from the MDR menu (which we take advantage of on most evenings since we always book GS), but even that benefit merely gives us MDR food without the MDR chaotic environment, and suite lounge access. You are still in a JS sized room.

You are still in a JS sized room. We always sail in GS on non-CK ships. You are correct that the price for full suites is very high. Our casino offers takes a bit of the sting away, though. We have started to order regular menu room service for other than breakfast recently and enjoyed it. We haven't tried to order from the MDR menu yet. Do you find it arrives quickly and at proper temperature?

Do you find it arrives quickly and at proper temperature? We will usually order a pot of coffee in the morning so we can enjoy the balcony before breakfast. Overall, MDR dinner room service arrives in ~20-30 minutes, is always at the right temperature, and is generally a slightly larger (and much better IMO) portion than what is served in the MDR. One nice “hidden” benefit is that we discovered is that we can order something that is not on that night’s menu (like shrimp cocktail), have items added to our order (like anchovies and/or shrimp on a Caesar salad), and we always include bags of chips in our order. On rare occasions (like an excursion that ran late), we have asked them to rush the order, and it arrived within 15 minutes. Not sure where we’d set up for room service in a JS sized “suite”. They can increase the number of "suites" onboard with access to the lounge and CK so long as they lock out more Panicles to minimize crowding in those facilities. We are only Diamond, although not far from D+. I think the trend is for Diamonds to have limited access to the Crown Lounge and Pinnacles to be limited in the Suites Lounge. Perhaps the end game is to eliminate the access all together. We have a JS on Wonder in January, but no other cruises booked on Oasis or Quantum class. The cost of a full suite is outrageous. While we can afford a GS we don't want to spend at that level for a Royal cruise. All of our future cruises are on lower class ships in a GS now. So far we are happy with our decision. BTW....we have really enjoyed our visits with the Pinnacles in the Suites Lounge. I would hate for that to go away.
smokeybandit Posted July 5 #12 Share Posted July 5 Has anyone sailed one of these on Quantum? I'm trying to figure out what Sky class perks are truly included.
donnabonna Posted August 14 #13 Share Posted August 14 How do I know if my cabin is sky class or not? Booked a suite guarantee and just found out my cabin assignment. Did a web search and it’s a junior suite which is expected, but cruise deck plans website says it’s a junior suite with sky class privileges. On Symphony of the seas. Is that even possible?
