Observer Posted November 8, 2023 #1 Share Posted November 8, 2023 Blacklane advertises "Meet and Greet" as a core part of their airport transfer service. When being provided Blacklane service from airport to home, does the driver meet you in the terminal, escort you to baggage claim and then to the car? Or do you have to schlep your own luggage and find the car/driver in the taxi/limo lane? Many thanks.
Rare Dolcevita Diva Posted November 8, 2023 #2 Share Posted November 8, 2023 (edited) They have always met me in the terminal. When I was picked up from an international arrival, the driver was waiting right outside customs/immigration. I did of course have to fetch my own luggage for the customs/immigration process but he took it to the car. . When picked up from a domestic flight leg, the driver was waiting at the bottom of the escalator to baggage claim. We have always been met either just outside the customs exit at an airport, or at the closest available spot when disembarking a ship. We love their service overseas, but find them not price competitive with other options in North America. 🥌🍺
Rare FlyerTalker Posted November 9, 2023 #4 Share Posted November 9, 2023 Two points: 1) Pickup is completely dependent on the conditions set by the airport. So any comments above really need to specify what airports allowed what meeting point. 2) Blacklane is not a service provider, but merely a front-end portal to independent transportation companies/drivers. As such, you are at the mercy of the local contractor for actual service delivery. Caveat emptor.

Two further observations that may help others: 1) Your experience appears much wider than mine - but I've never encountered an airport that did not permit pax to be met once they exited security zones like customs or (sometimes) baggage collection. I'd be interested to know of exceptions for my future consideration? 2) I've always been intrigued by the service provider model (Blacklane, Uber, etc.) so I've spent a lot of time in conversation with the various local contractors. Every one of the Blacklane contractors have pointed out that poor service delivery gets them quickly turfed from the Blacklane 'ecosystem'. So, given my personal experience and that input, I'm comfortable recommending them. As you observed, YMMV. 🥌🍺

So there are throngs of people jammed around the doors. Saigon is one that comes to mind right away. You have to show your ticketing info to a security person to be admitted to the building. I know I've experienced others, but can't bring them to mind right away.

I always confirm the meet location, but would not have anticipated such a situation - many thanks! 🥌🍺

You should receive an email to set up the ride about 30 days before your cruise. There is an opportunity for special instructions, plus, on the day of, you should get a text (and email) with the driver’s name and number.
