Taxis at Barcelona Airport

Is it easy to get a taxi at Barcelona Airport and cost or is it better to hire a private car?

There are a lot of taxis at the airport. Just exit customs and go downstairs (to the right of Go Natural). It's not an escalator with stairs, but a ramp (like a people mover) that will take you downstairs. The line goes quickly down there.

Yes, lots of taxis available to take you to your hotel or cruise terminal.  It’s a short ride, so you don’t need a private car.

Barcelona wants to limit the cruise ships that are docked in town.  To facilitate this, a new cruise terminal is being built in Tarragona, Spain, which is slated to open in 2024.  This new cruise terminal is supposed to be an hour outside of Barcelona.  If your cruise is in 2024, I would wait to see if there will be a change to the port assignment.  I'm guessing RCCL's mega ships will be the predominant users of this port.  

 

If you embarking from one of the terminals in Barcelona proper, it's a quick taxi ride and the taxis are abundant at BCN.

It is STRONGLY EASY to catch a taxi in Barcelona airport.

 

Despite you could find very long queues, do not worry, queues run very, very fast as well as there are enought taxis.

 

 

All official taxis have

- black colour with yellow parts (I bet there aren't any other ones in the world like Barcelona taxis)

- blue plate

 

and official fare airport to pier must be

39 euro

where all supplements are incluided

For other destinations within the city (even from the airport, even from the city) just calculate

 

7,05 euro + 1,23 euro/km  in weekdays

7,05 euro + 1,51 euro/km   in weekends and nights

 

where all supplements are just incluided (but you may add stopping time in jams or traffic light. It is automatically calculated but consider up to 10% more)

 

and km can be easily calculated in google maps

 

 

So...

Airport to Railway station (14,6 km):  25,1 euro

Airport to City centre - Pl Catalunya (15,3 km): 25,8 euro

Airport to Sagrada Familia (18,3 via city centre, 20,2 fastest route): 29,6 euro OR  31,9 euro (you are entitled to say taxi driver you preferences about cheapest or fastest route)
