Oddly and annoyingly, no. But the cakes are included in Plus and Premier. Pro tip: we got a scoop of gelato on one of the cakes at no charge. 2

1412p0oi Posted December 17, 2023 #103 Share Posted December 17, 2023 I'm really enjoying my vicarious vacation through you! Especially as a soon to be first time cruiser learning about all of this. I was wondering though if there was a limit to how many dishes you can order in MDR without paying? I read somewhere you are limited to 2 main dishes now without paying extra but couldn't confirm it elsewhere.

Thanks so much in advance. Haven't had a chance to check out Vines yet, but I’ll ask at some point. 1

The size of dishes is plenty

Vines is a wine bar Most days it opens around 4pm. I have never needed reservations or found a way to make one. It is not really a restaurant as the tables are used for drinkers and just hangers on

I don't like to waste food, but I have never heard of many items on the menus that CanadianBurger shared, so it's a point of culinary curiosity. And also I don't usually eat appetizers or desserts so just want to experience the mains. :)

Back to back cruises are good as they usually repeat the menus on the second leg and you can try different things on the same menu. Either that or you an your spouse take different items and try things from each others choices. Edited December 17, 2023 by mrell345

obendus Posted December 17, 2023 #111 Share Posted December 17, 2023 Upon returning to our cabin this evening, the TV was illuminated with this greeting. (The image is a still, but the fire image is actually shimmering). Nice touch Princess... nice touch!
Rare CanadianBurger Posted December 17, 2023 Author #112 Share Posted December 17, 2023 So, Princess… Let’s talk about your comedians. I figured tonight’s guy HAD to be better than the last one. The bar was very low. Unfortunately, Mike Brody couldn’t clear it. He didn’t even get close to it. I don’t often leave the theatre during a show, but after 15 minutes, I’d had enough. And it wasn’t just me. People were leaving in droves. I almost feel sorry for the guy, because I doubt he’s going to get a second show. If he does, nobody will go.
Rare CanadianBurger Posted December 17, 2023 Author #113 Share Posted December 17, 2023 MDR Dinner tonight. The highlight for me was the Frosty Mango and Pear Soup. It was delicious, and served the way I expected the disappointing pina colada soup to be served, earlier in the trip.

greenie082756 Posted December 17, 2023 #115 Share Posted December 17, 2023 (edited) Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences on this cruise. DH and I will be doing a back-to-back cruise in February on the Emerald. I have to say that calling slices of ham as pork loin on our last cruise on the Discovery a month ago was surprising. I really expected a white meat instead of slices of ham. Still edible, just surprising. I will keep watching! It looks wonderful so far! Rare CanadianBurger Posted December 19, 2023 Author #120 Share Posted December 19, 2023 For Trinidad, we had a tour of Angostura booked, but there was a fire a couple of weeks ago, and the tour was canceled.
Rare CanadianBurger Posted December 19, 2023 Author #121 Share Posted December 19, 2023 Instead, we took the generic “scenic tour”. This experience reminded us of why we don’t usually book ship tours. 20 people jammed into a minibus with only enough leg and knee room if you’re 4’8”. There were some interesting sights, including the “rainbow bark” tree.

Rare CanadianBurger Posted December 19, 2023 Author #124 Share Posted December 19, 2023 I went zip lining in St. Lucia, and had a fantastic time. Our bus driver drove like a wannabe F1 driver, but got us there in one piece. I’ll post some video once I get it off my GoPro.
Rare CanadianBurger Posted December 19, 2023 Author #125 Share Posted December 19, 2023 We had our friends over for afternoon tea on our balcony. The service was more miss than hit however. The poor room service guy tipped over one of the milk containers, which necessitated getting a new tablecloth, which was no big deal. But we ordered tea for four, and the cart was oddly understocked. Only two scones, and they forgot silverware, napkins, plates, and sugar for the tea. I looked at the sheet, and everything was checked off correctly, so I don’t know what happened. We did eventually get everything we needed though, so all was not lost.
