Kuevan Posted December 12, 2023 #1 Share Posted December 12, 2023 Getting ready to leave this Saturday on the Joy out of Miami. Weather for sail away is looking pretty yucky. Thinking observation lounge would be a good place for the sail away - we usually do the deck party. Plan to explore the ship, but is there anything you would recommend? Sailing with two teenage girls who are not interested in the Entourage Club.
bkrickles1 Posted December 12, 2023 #2 Share Posted December 12, 2023 I've sailed Joy twice in the past 18 months and we had a great time on both sailings. The OL is a great space, but on sailaway day it will get pretty crowded as people gravitate there to wait for their cabins to be ready. And, if the weather is "yucky", it'll be a madhouse. I'd look at the Waterfront on deck 8. It's a beautiful area with tons of seating and a couple of bars. Since you're leaving from Miami, it'll be warm out and the Waterfront has protection from rain so you should be good to go.

Perfect, we will definitely check out the Waterfront on deck 8 - thanks so much!

Coastalbreezes Posted December 13, 2023 #7 Share Posted December 13, 2023 The weather forecast for Miami Saturday calls for low 70s temperatures and rain. Of course being Florida, that can change. The Observation Lounge on deck 15 might be a nice place to settle for sail away although it could get busy. If it's raining, the sail away party will likely happen in the Atrium and many people will go there for the festivities.
complawyer Posted December 13, 2023 #8 Share Posted December 13, 2023 your teenage girls are doing themselves a massive disservice by not signing up for the Entourage! our grandson has cruised with us many times (he's now 24) from the time he was 13 to 18 we always signed him up for this. he met a bunch of nice kids, they had a ball, and most of the cruise, unless we were taking an excursion, he was hanging out with his new friends and we hardly ever saw him. he still keeps in contact with some of them 6-7 years later. tell them to try it for a few days. other wise, there is very little to do for teens unless they want to spend all their time with you.
