Rare wolft927 Posted December 17, 2023 #1 Share Posted December 17, 2023 So I woke up and went to check the cruise cam at port of Miami and noticed no ships. Port of Miami is currently close so debark and embark will be delayed. There is currently 8 ships waiting outside the port to enter. Debark and embark is gonna be a mess today. Anyone have any updates from the cruise lines?
S18278C Posted December 17, 2023 #2 Share Posted December 17, 2023 Just aborted our approach. (Norwegian Encore) they are now offering a movie in the theater. Bad sign.

Shadylady1212 Posted December 17, 2023 #4 Share Posted December 17, 2023 My mom is on one of the ships (Oceania Insignia). She says they are being told it's due to high winds from the storm. They were being told a time initially, but have been told they are on "hold" with no time being offered now

Capt_BJ Posted December 17, 2023 #7 Share Posted December 17, 2023 MSC entered channel about 9am ... tug escort due to winds (standing port order) appears only one ship being allowed to be in channel at a time which will slow things more .... 9:30 and MSC is at the turning basin and OASIS OTS is passing the sea buoy
FOPMan Posted December 17, 2023 #8 Share Posted December 17, 2023 It is going to be a messy day all around. Many of the folks disembarking may find additional chaos at the airports. There are delays at both MIA and FLL. Hopefully, the flight delays will enable at least some passengers to make what otherwise would be a missed flight.
Rare wolft927 Posted December 17, 2023 Author #9 Share Posted December 17, 2023 10:30am now, 2 ships docked. Figure if lucky all ships may be in by around 12:30 to 1pm. If I was arriving today for embarkation I wouldn’t even get there till earliest around 3pm.

Sam.Seattle Posted December 17, 2023 #11 Share Posted December 17, 2023 Tugs helped the Carribean Princess in to Port Everglades this morning per a friend on board.
Capt_BJ Posted December 17, 2023 #12 Share Posted December 17, 2023 in major US ports there is usually a standing Captain of the Port order for a threshold windspeed beyond which tugs are required to escort large vessels. 'not negotiable' 😗
Ptown Posted December 17, 2023 #13 Share Posted December 17, 2023 I just logged onto a POM webcam. All ships are docked (4;30 Miami time). The camera zoomed in on roadway side of the terminals. . . what a mess. . . looks like people trying to debark and embark with 4 lanes of traffic trying to get into and out of the terminals. Guess that's why I always pack an attitude of "acceptance" when traveling. A lot worse things could have happened. 54 days till I'll be down there with them! Can't Wait!! 😉
nhraformula00 Posted December 17, 2023 #14 Share Posted December 17, 2023 This is why we always arrive a day or 2 early and also a day or 2 late.
