move up bids

Only you can answer that.  Do you like your current stateroom?  Do you want to spend the extra money?  You may find out two days before sailing your cabin changed...are you ok with that?  It's a personal/financial decision only you can make.

well are they a better deal than booking originally? Why do they do this? I thought they were sold out.

In case anyone cancels, or in case people in classes above you also move up. There are no guarantees you will win the bid they do it even if the rooms are all full.

If you bid and the bid is accepted you will not know your cabin until after your credit card is charged.

You can't decline a move up if you don't like the cabin, change your mind, etc.  Once the bid is accepted there is no going back.

Also if you win a bid for a suite, you will only get the "extra" suite perks mentioned in the bid description and nothing more.  For the most part, you will keep only the perks that you currently have and just get a larger cabin.

Sometimes.  It depends on the particular cruise and how much you bid.

I once got a great deal going from inside to what they used to call Family Veranda.

Remember that you might end up in any one of the cabin class you bid on.  Look at all the locations where you might end up.  If you are OK with any of them then bid what you would feel comfortable paying for the larger cabin and I assume Luminae if you are moving up from Aqua.

Excellent words of caution, jelayne.

Plus access to the retreat, Luminaire, reserved seating for shows on Chic nights and a host of other amenities
