Buck King Posted December 20, 2023 #1 Share Posted December 20, 2023 Is it acceptable to bring a complimentary glass of wine or beer from the lunch/dinner table back to your cabin? Also, is the mini fridge large enough to hold a bottle of wine?

We trade wine for liquor and soft drinks, so I am unsure if you could fit wine and liquor and soft drinks in the refrigerator.
pdxloft Posted December 21, 2023 #3 Share Posted December 21, 2023 Yes and yes. In fact - some cabins (depending upon grade) actually have a bottle of champagne upon embarkation. You'll also see many folks take drinks from a bar to restaurant or to another venue on the ship. Viking is wonderfully "adult" when it comes to alcohol policies as they assume their passengers are well mannered 🙂

ropomo Posted December 21, 2023 #5 Share Posted December 21, 2023 Viking has no restrictions on alcohol. They treat you like an adult. You may bring aboard as much alcohol as you want. You may bring your own alcohol to any venue without corkage fee or question anywhere on the ship. You may take glasses from any venue to wherever you want on the ship after being served. The bartenders will even open your wine or mix a drink for you from your bottle.
Mich3554 Posted December 21, 2023 #6 Share Posted December 21, 2023 We always wind up with a collection of wine glasses in the cabin that we have hauled back to drink in the cabin.

Buck King Posted December 21, 2023 Author #11 Share Posted December 21, 2023 Thanks to all for your replies. Your barf advice was particularly useful. We now recognize that we will be sailing with a sophisticated crowd. 🤪 1
mklions Posted December 21, 2023 #12 Share Posted December 21, 2023 Beer and wine is served at lunch and dinner, but does that have time limit? Or if you decide to have a late lunch for example or a burger around the pool in the afternoon is that also included?

It's only for the specific lunch and dinner hours for the two specialty restaurants, The Restaurant, and World Cafe.
SJD117 Posted December 21, 2023 #14 Share Posted December 21, 2023 The lushes on the ship can always — always — find a place to drink.

We've only been on Viking once so far, but we were able to get complimentary wine in Mamsens at lunch time

And they are loosely goosey on the time depending on what is going on that day. E.g., on our Norway/Svalbard/Iceland cruise in July, our last day in Iceland had morning excursions that came back well after lunch. Pool grill was still serving up beer and wine to folks who were having lunch at 3 pm.
minka34 Posted December 22, 2023 #17 Share Posted December 22, 2023 Yes, as long as they are serving lunch, you can get complementary wine/beer/soda. As Linda272 said, the pool sometimes goes a little later, but I believe that lunch typically officially ends at 2:30.

The Daily will have the “official” times, but practice sometimes differs, as mentioned.
