Hotels off I-95 South GA-FL

Does anyone have a hotel recommendation for the Savannah area or a little farther south? We drove straight through from NC to Port Canaveral on our cruise last month, but are looking to stop maybe halfway or so and spend the night this time around. We will be leaving 2 days before our cruise on Mardi Gras and will spend the second night near the port.

Any of the hotels at the Pooler exit (near the Savannah airport) are fine for a one-night stay. Plenty of restaurants and shopping, too.

When we used to do the drive from NC several years ago, we did as hrhdhd mentioned and stayed in the Pooler area. Usually at the Microtel but have stayed at almost all and they were fine for one night.

If you find want to drive a bit further than Pooler, the Kingsland GA exit is also a very popular stop. All chain hotels are represented, and many restaurants. That is just above the FL boarder.

 

Either stop, just be mindful of the unpleasant Jacksonville traffic, and avoid passing through during AM or PM rush hours.

I would recommend hotels at the Kingsland GA exit which will put you right at the Florida state line…..

We also drive from NC to Fort Lauderdale for cruises. We stop at Kingsland, GA as well. It just about halfway,  has any hotel bran you can think of and many restaurants. 

 

Our next cruise is March 2024 and we will be stopping in Kingsland again.

 

Pooler does have a very interesting Air Force museum. My father in law served in the Army Air Core during WW2 before it became the Air Force and that museum was worth the visit.
