jon81uk Posted December 27, 2023 #1 Share Posted December 27, 2023 VV Insider have discovered that due to the lifeboats being pulled in on Brilliant Lady the balconies on deck 8 will be smaller, this means a new cabin type of slightly smaller balcony sea terrace. These rooms will be the same size interior as other sea terrace rooms, but smaller balcony, the big change though is those smaller balconies will come with two hammocks and no other furniture. https://vvinsider.com/brilliant-ladys-changes-revealed-to-support-new-destinations/
Rare cantgetin Posted December 27, 2023 #2 Share Posted December 27, 2023 That will definitely be a plus for some people
Rare WanderingBrit Posted December 28, 2023 #3 Share Posted December 28, 2023 A reduction from 40 sq ft to 9-11 isn’t “slightly smaller” - it’s a 75% reduction! If that square footage is accurate the balcony is only about 12” from door to railing ….

robertsammons Posted December 28, 2023 #5 Share Posted December 28, 2023 Yeah its going to be insanely small compared, not sure if they're limited view or not or if thats avoided that, it wasnt listed as such
Rare cantgetin Posted December 28, 2023 #6 Share Posted December 28, 2023 The size sounds ridiculous though. The two hammocks must be the selling point they put in as otherwise NO ONE would go for a balcony that small!

I would also assume similar to the current limited view rooms they will also price these smaller balconies cheaper than a standard terrace. FFMilesJunkie Posted December 29, 2023 #8 Share Posted December 29, 2023 These cabins would be a good opportunity to accommodate solo sailors. Make these cabins have no or very little single supplement. Not all solos like to be in insiders or sea views.

Yeah category wise they are below limited sea terrace in listing Edited December 29, 2023 by robertsammons
singleflyer Posted December 29, 2023 #10 Share Posted December 29, 2023 As a solo traveler, I would have no problem with one of these rooms; especially if they are cheaper. Assuming that the view isn't blocked by the lifeboats.
-The-True-North- Posted December 29, 2023 #11 Share Posted December 29, 2023 I would imagine they would be worse than just limited view as they are only on deck 8 and have the life rafts directly in front/below you. In the photo above, they even list it AFTER limited view. Maybe VV will allow MNVV to be applied to incentivise people to book them. Then again, probably not because I'm sure people would then just pay the $150 bid on an upgrade and get it.

The cabin is about 9 feet wide and would amount to a one foot depth balcony and that’s one even enough for the hanging points of the hammock. best guess the balcony will be 2-3 feet deep, making them 18-27 square feet.

That was my first thought....you wouldn't even be able to get into the hammock on a 1 foot deep balcony (or at least I wouldn't, I need my wiggle room)/
Seapals Posted September 1 #14 Share Posted September 1 Sadly the bedside box remains. Just the most awkward piece of furniture anyone could place in a bedroom. What a waste of space .. does anyone ever change the bed to sofa seating during the day!

I've never seen it advertised or offered on board so they definitely don't want you to even know about it. I'm also surprised they didn't fix this on the newer ship - that solo chair isn't particularly comfortable and I didn't even have a chair in my interior room... just the box and lots of empty floor space with nothing. haha. Seapals Posted September 2 #16 Share Posted September 2 Madness .. a very poor design! You would think Virgin could do much better! They seem to have given a lot of thought in to other aspects of the cabin. That floor space could much better be used in the bathroom! We have a motor home with more bathroom space. Quote my husband .. you can sit on the loo, clean your teeth and wash your feet in the shower all at the same time! 😂😂. The latest Brittany ferry that goes over to Spain had more bathroom space. In fact Virgin ships have more in common with a ferry than traditional cruise ships. We weren’t a fan and won’t be cruising with them again. Rare Tyler414 Posted September 5 #17 Share Posted September 5 A little off topic, but it's about Brilliant... What is going on with this ship? I was on Scarlet in August on an Irresistible Med & Rome cruise. When we pulled into Civitavecchia (Rome) port, there was Brilliant Lady anchored off shore looking all ready to sail. In the evening she was all lite up saying AHOY SCL to us. It was pretty neat. The ship (from a distance) looked ready to go. What is the issue? Sorry if this has been answered before. Thanks. P.S. The Med cruise on Scarlet was AWESOME!!

The Med cruise on Scarlet was AWESOME!! There has been all sorts of excuses but I believe the real reason is that VV was not prepared to operate a fourth ship at the time Brilliant Lady was delivered. Not surprising that 4 ships in 4 years was too much for a brand new company.
