WORLD CRUISE 2024

Recommended Posts

We had a rough ride getting to Bora Bora, a tender port.  Captain came on at 0730 to say it would be impossible to tender. It is raining buckets and high swells.  So we are sailing to Pago Pago. This is our 5th missed port.  I see Bingo in our future.

Good Morning Pacific Ocean!  An unusual sight…blue skies.  WHOO HOO!

It was very rough yesterday.  It rained much of the day.  All open decks were closed.  We were told to stay off the balconies.  It’s so nice to have calmer seas.

This afternoon we had a Fat Tuesday Mardi Gras celebration.  Chef John and Nino brought out and cut the cake.  Whoever found the Baby would be the King or Queen.

Good Morning Pacific Ocean!  Happy Valentine Day 💕

Our reality…pouring rain and strong winds.  Furniture tied up!

Tomorrow is Pago Pago. Forecast is Thunderstorms.  I hope we can get rid of this low pressure system soon.  Still better than a day at work.

It is the rainy and windy season in that area of the world. There were also 2 cyclones that hit the area. So, it’s not uncommon to have rain and rough seas this time of year. Unfortunately, the larger ships including Regent sail there during the rainy season.

When is the best time to travel in that area. In researching cruise from Singapore, it said least amount of rain Feb-April. Then thought to add going back down to Australia/NZ. Seems like weather in November & December was better for cruises in this region than it is now for everyone in this area. Not sure if this region has different weather than Malaysia & Vietnam.

The dry season is May-October but rain showers are possible at any time. Humidity is lower as well.

The Samoan people were so gracious and friendly.  Miss American Samoa Judy  Faafetai Taunu’u  was a delight.  She was on the dock when we arrived at 0800 and waved goodbye at 1800.  What an excellent representative!

Good Morning from beautiful Fiji!

It is so green and lush.  It is cooler than Samoa.  We had a few showers during the day.  We went on the Sabeto Village tour. Our guide John was excellent.

Our welcoming committee.  He guided our bus!  Too cute!

The people were very kind and appreciative.  It was a good excursion.
