Dinah1230 Posted January 8 #1 Share Posted January 8 We love dressing up for formal or gala nights. How many of these are on a 14 night cruise?
Rare cruisestitch Posted January 8 #2 Share Posted January 8 None. Celebrity has eliminated “formal” nights. Now “chic” nights and expect two but don’t be surprised if there are 3.
39august Posted January 8 #3 Share Posted January 8 You can dress up as much as you wish.
Dinah1230 Posted January 8 Author #4 Share Posted January 8 Formal/Gala/chic…all mean the same. Dress up night.
LB_NJ Posted January 8 #5 Share Posted January 8 However, expect that many people will not dress up.
lovecruzin Posted January 8 #6 Share Posted January 8 Based on our experience on Eclipse, plan for 3 Chic nights. If there are only 2 just go dressier on another random night 😆

Formal used to specify dark business suit or tuxedo for men. Chic does not, so no, they aren’t the same. celebrity never had a “gala night”
mrgabriel Posted January 8 #8 Share Posted January 8 I would expect 3. And the majority of people won't be in formal/gala clothing. You will see plenty of cocktail dresses, a few men in jackets and ties, and a lot of people dressed up just a bit. However, if you want to be dressier there is nothing to stop you and you likely won't be the only ones. On our September cruise there were a handful of couples in tuxedos and gowns several times during the cruise.

Celebrity has gotten away from Formal Nights and refer to it as Evening Chic. For 7 nights or longer you have 2 Evening Chic. While their website does not specifically say about 14, I would think it woudl be extended. Here is what their website says about Evening Chic: "For 6 night cruises or less, there will be 1 Evening Chic night per cruise. For 7 nights or longer, there will be 2 Evening Chic nights while onboard. While Tuxedos and Formal attire is still appropriate, they are not required and guests will feel comfortable in both formal wear and a dressier smart casual style. Jackets are not required." I was on the Solstice to Alaska 7 nights and did slacks and button up long-sleeved shirt and felt fine. Other evenings I was in very nice looking Levi's and button up long-sleeved shirt and fit in fine as well. Edited January 8 by ScottC4746
