We are driving to the ship as we live in Florida for our upcoming cruise in March.  Anyone know which terminal Vista uses?

Generally terminal J.  The parking is right across the street and was $22/day last January.  It's a multi-story parking garage, very convenient.  I believe if you have handicap plates it's free.

It's more "user hostile" than "user friendly", but check Port of Miami's official website: https://wwwx.miamidade.gov/Apps/Seaport/dailydock/Default.aspx

For example, Vista docks at Terminal E this coming March 16th:

I found it easy, and the meaning of the word "generally" seems to evade you, look it up (hint: it doesn't mean always).

Per the official port website that's not true for vehicles with only standard handicapped plates or permits. It's only true for disabled veterans and vehicles with specialized equipment such a ramps, lifts and hand controls.

https://www.miamidade.gov/portmiami/parking-information.asp

Disabled Parking

  • Miami-Dade County Ordinance requires all guests with a disabled parking permit or license tag to pay standard parking rates except as provided by Florida State Law. However, two hours of complimentary parking will be provided to vehicles displaying a disabled parking permit or license tag
  • In accordance with Florida Statute 316.1964, ONLY vehicles with specialized equipment such as ramps, lifts, or foot or hand controls, for use by a person who has a disability, or any vehicle displaying a State of Florida license plate for disabled veterans (issued under s. 320.084, s. 320.0842, or s. 320.0845 or displaying the Florida Toll Exemption permit, is exempt from parking charges

Disabled Veterans Parking

  • Effective July 1, 2016, disabled veterans displaying a Florida license plate for disabled veterans, issued under Florida Statute 320.084, will receive free parking. The disabled veteran to whom the license plate was issued must be in the vehicle for this exception to apply
  • Please note that as long as your vehicle has a State of Florida disabled veterans tag, your parking is complimentary in accordance with Florida Statutes. When you exit the parking facility, please present the Toll Attendant your original parking ticket, driver's license and State of Florida vehicle registration. The toll attendant will have you complete a short form and that is all there is to it

For those who wonder what "E (16.5-E) PST" means, there is no key supplied:

• E = Terminal 'E'

• (16.5-E) = Dunno. Anyone?  Beuller?  😉

• PST = PortSide To (pier)

Also, you have to actually click on a date in the calendar to set it as a search criterion, even if it already seems to be set by being boxed.

I could go on.

We are also taking the Vista 3/16 and driving down. Is it common that the ship may embark at one terminal and disembark at another in Miami? Will transportation be provided between the terminals if there is a fair distance between them to get back to the parking garage by the original terminal?

That's right.  You're driving and need to get back to your parking lot.  Terminal ‘E’ is on the north side of Dodge Island (part of the long line of full-size docks) and Terminal ‘J’ is a lone, petite terminal on the south side about 500 yards away.  AFIK, walking from the south side to the north side would require suicidal jaywalking.

🤔  You could always take the problem to your butler/concierge/lobby concierge once aboard; but I'd start, now, with getting your TA involved or calling O directly -- but beware because there is a reason for the advice "Call O three times and average the answers".

There are several reasons O will always prefer to embark/debark at Terminal ‘J’ when they can.  Every so often, though, "can" can change into "can't" on very short notice because of weather.

Curious how that works at automated parking garages.

I don't think any of the Port of Miami garages are fully automated. Per the website:

Hours and Access

Cruise Days (Cruise Ships at Port)

  • All garages are open and staffed by a parking attendant from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.

We were told terminal J. However, the morning of the cruise, we got an email with a change to terminal B.  The email said that there were high winds.  We disembarked at terminal J. There was a free shuttle bus taking guests from J to B.

We left from Terminal J on Vista in December and returned to Terminal E. They said they had shuttles to take people back to Terminal J (presumably, back to the parking garage across from Terminal J.

Terminal J is shared with other smaller, mostly luxury cruise lines that don't have a dedicated cruise terminal.
