Yes for when you get to the Caribbean. That first day and last day are probably going to be a tad chilly. I know it was when we cruised in November.

I'm going to Nassau, Bahamas and Half Moon Cay, I should wear pants when I leave and return to Charleston?

Well it is winter! Of course, you will want to plan ahead and bring both just in case. You will never know. It's always good to have clothes for different weather on any trip for that reason. Yes, even in summer!

Better to he safe than sorry!

I've cruised from Charleston in December. Definitely wear long pants and long sleeves for sail away and debarkation.  The Bahamas will be pleasant enough for shorts and t-shirts, though.

OK, should I wear shorts and a short sleeve shirt on sea days?

Wear whatever the weather dictates for the day. There is no way to know one year out what the weather will be or how cold or warm it will be. You can look at an almanac and get historical patterns, but cold fronts and warm fronts and nor'easters and Super Storm Sandy can change things up. Be equally prepared for warm weather and cold weather. Be prepared for rain or sunshine. If its cold, wear a sweater and jacket and pants. If its warm, wear a t-shirt and shorts.  Just as you would on any vacation in the mid-latitudes. There is no way to know this far out for someone to advise you definitively what to pack or how to dress.
