Priority tendering

It never fails.  Over the past few years, whenever my wife and I are waiting patiently in line to board a mass market cruise, invariably someone in front of me is "saving" a spot for someone who is "on their way" which more often than not turns out to be a large group, not just a spouse.  And then, of course, when that "spot saver" and their party reaches the front of the line, one or more of them are nearly always unprepared to show the correct documentation, or there is some other issue and they manage to delay everyone behind them who was actually waiting their turn.  😠

If you are waiting on members of your party to arrive at the terminal on embarkation day and want to board together, just wait until they are there before getting in the line to board.  If you have access to specialty dining due to your category or past passenger status and want to dine with friends who don't enjoy that access, join them in the MDR or other venue.  If you have priority tender access and your friends do not, either wait for them on shore or tender in with their group.  Common courtesy and respect for others seems to be in shorter supply now than it was in the past.

Being considerate of your fellow passengers will make the cruise experience more enjoyable for all!  😀

On the same order of people saving an entire row of seats in the theater for folks who are all in the bathroom!

we were in a tendered port and there was no separate line for priority   Everyone lined up in one line.  Apologies…can’t remember which port.

It often varies by port and by Ship Class.    On Edge recently and due to the large passenger load they used sticker in all tender ports as well as docked ports with shuttles into town.    This was done to avoid a mad rush.   Unfortunately I heard tales of people waiting as much as 2 hours to get off the ship (without any priority).

The ship was at capacity.

We met the Hostess at a pre-arranged location who brought us down via a "secret" staircase.  We also had these stickers to attach to our clothing.

When you say Hostess -  was that in a suite ?

Suites normally meet in Retreat and when ready they escort down in groups (usually one retreat escort per elevator load) and they walk us down to the tender which is sitting empty)   They usually have a number of Hosts an Butlers that assist.     If later than the first tender they escort you down when they get a call a tender is available and escort us to a separate lane for tagging off the ship.

I don't see much of a distinction between someone sneaking off of the ship and someone with status sneaking off non-status passengers.

There isn't. Those that do believe in, "rules for thee, not for me". Ya know, like chair hogs.
