sbatty Posted February 4 #1 Share Posted February 4 I am traveling RT from Seattle to Alaska with someone who will be using their Chinese w/Canadian visitor visa. I had read that Princess will collect and hold her passport at embarkation so that it can be stamped when we visit the Canadian port on our last evening. We had hoped to take a tour in Skagway that enters Canada and passports are required. Does anyone have experience with this? Is it possible to collect the passport for the day and then return in? Is this done through guest services? Princess was unable to answer the question.
CruiserBruce Posted February 4 #2 Share Posted February 4 If they take it (I don't think they will) and it's required to go ashore in a port, they won't hold it.
Rare Ferry_Watcher Posted February 6 #3 Share Posted February 6 Any passport, like your friend’s Chinese passport that has a Canadian visa is collected at check-in. The ship’s Documentation Officer will take all these passports onboard the ship at the end of embarkation and they will be held until the Canadian officials board in Victoria to inspect them. The check-in agents were always told that if a passenger needed their passport during the cruise (like for the Skagway train), that the passenger could talk to Guest Services. I haven’t heard of any difficulties with folks getting their passports for that purpose. Just as a FYI, no one needs their passport to visit any of the ports during the cruise, so your friend won’t need it except for the train excursion. wolfie11 Posted February 6 #4 Share Posted February 6 If you do the Summit excursion you technically don’t enter Canada and don’t need a passport.
