Shade on Great Stirrup Cay?

Are there any shady spots on Great Stirrup Cay with a view of the ocean?  I'm looking for suggestions that don't include a clam shell, cabana or villa.

There are.  I avoid the sun and there are some trees for sure as you walk past the food areas.  We just sat on beach, no chairs.  I did have something very small bite my legs though.

We are 0 for 2 as far as actually getting into GSC.  Maybe someday, we'll make it in.  🙂

I've always been able to find some shade, but not necessarily all that great.  IIRC, there are some tables with umbrella shades at one or two for the food/drink venues.  I would still recommend good sunshade, hat and SPF swim shirt.

There are no shady spots on the island. There is very limited "free" shade. If you are going during the summer, you will want some purchased shade. 

 

 

Free shade... but not very good and definitely not enough for 4000 people.

Umbrellas for $10, but hard as the sun moves

 

Clamshells for $45

Does NCL sail there during the summer?  Wouldn't I also want "purchased shade" on a sunny day in January?

We purchase shade every time we go there. The photos above were from December and we purchased shade then. Others sat in the sun for an hour and returned to the ship before getting too sun burned. 

 

Summer time, the sun is exceptionally brutal and we have found squatters in our shade after returning from the beach, just politely asking that they move on.

LOTS of shade being thrown on GSP, usually by groups of friends traveling together, criticizing each other mercilessly and treating each other with extraordinary contempt.

 

LOTS of eye rolling and sighs.
