HELP. Visas for Indonesia.

Recommended Posts

Husband and I are joining Viking Orion in Sydney next week to sail SE Asia.  I am finding it impossible to access indonesia visa site.  We have had 3 sets of passport photos taken and all have been rejected on the visa application…(admittedly I would like my photo to look 30 years younger 😁) but that’s not the issue!  We have finally resorted to CIBT visa agency, but still being rejected.  Apparently if you fly in you can get an eVoa, but there is no mention of entering through a port.  Has anyone recently sailed into Indonesia and obtained a visa on the spot?  How does customs work when the ship is at tender?  Can we go ashore?  Many thanks for any replies.

I would think the cruiseline will organise your visa, most do, so call them to confirm.

Otherwise, go through Smartraveller site, it is official gov site and will only have the proper links to official websites for applications

We are going through Vikings recommended visa agency.  We tried ourselves, but after 3 days of struggling ourselves….the final straw was when the application rejected my passport number!…we resorted to the agency, but we stilll have to fill in the visa application ourselves, and it keeps rejecting our photos…all taken by a passport photo place (Aus Post).  It’s beyond me!  And I’ve done our other visas!

so my question is… can we get an on the spot visa at our first Indonesian port?   Apparently it’s possible at airports, but the official Indonesia govt site doesn’t list any ports as having ‘on the spot’ visa centres.

has anyone been successful in getting on the spot visas at any ports of call while sailing in Indonesia?

This is the site I am using.  But it rejects my passport number and the ‘space’ allocated to upload our passport page is ‘portrait’ size but it will only accept he one information page of the passport (not double page) which of course ‘landscape’ size…and it won’t allow me to upload sideways and crop!  It’s beyond me!  (I’m actually off to an Apple store today to see if they can help me,  lol)

But thank you for all the trouble you’ve gone to to help me.  One of your ‘pages’ you’ve sent me lists Lombok which is our second port and wasn’t listed on the site I found, so perhaps we’ll stay on the boat the first port if there’s no ‘on the spot’ visa office available..

I did call Viking to ask if guest services could help once we are on the boat, but it was very much a ‘non answer’.  “Just keep trying”.

Anyway I’m almost at the point of giving up.  Thank you for your time.
