Suggestion for embarkation lunch on Sunshine

I am not sure what is open. I would like to avoid the buffet.

Everything that is open is in the buffet area. One option is to go back past the buffet area to the Havana Bar area. There the italian and asian kitchens serve noodle bowls for lunch.

 

The Havana Bar area is always open for lunch, and is a good place to find a table when you're eating lunch in general.

What mz-s said is correct. My wife loves the pasta bar for lunch. 

The Havana bar also serves some tasty Cuban pastries and hot Cuban sandwiches at lunchtime. Delicious.

And since most people are rushing to the Buffett the Havana bar area is mostly empty. It takes folks a few days to discover it on every cruise. It's our go to place to sit, eat, relax on the Sunshine. We leave Sunday for our 19th cruise, 6th on the Sunshine.

I've been on Sunshine out of Charleston probably 8 or 9 times so I know that ship and experience like the back of my hand.

Please don’t think the noodle dishes served at JiJi’s for lunch is indicative of their dinner menu. JiJi’s dinner is awesome!

Go to the Cucina del Capitano where besides good food you will find photos and memorabilia on the walls giving you some history of the ship your about to sail on in its previous life as the Carnival Destiny.

Just don't go for dinner..that place is overrated.
