Immigration procedures? Time estimates.

Recommended Posts

Are cruise begins in the US but ends in Vancouver.  We will fly from Vancouver to Seattle and then to Boston.  How many different immigration/security stops are there?  Two in Canada (Getting off the ship and then again at the airport) and One in Seattle (At the airport)?

I am more concerned about the turnaround time in Seattle. I have a flight booked for 1:30 out of Vancouver. How much time do I need between flights in Seattle?  This would be on a Friday in September if that makes any difference.

Thanks for your help.

You will clear Canadian Border when getting off the ship; then you will clear US Border at the airport; but once you land in Seattle, no more clearing to do.

Vancouver has US Customs Preclearance for outbound flights to the US so you will not need to clear in Seattle. Your arrival there should be seamless, the same as a domestic connection.

We both have Global Entry and will be flying from YVR to LAX. What clearance do we need to do at Vancouver airport?

Vancouver has US Customs and Border Patrol Preclearance for flights to the US. With your Global Entry, there will be dedicated lines for such. You will clear US Customs and go to a specific part of the airport (called the Transborder terminal) for US flight departures.
