Yacht Club vs Regent Grandeur

 Share

Recommended Posts

The complimentary browse wifi on board Grandeur is similar to what we had on Seaships prior to Starlink. Two devices each, but we must each log off one to log on to the other on Grandeur. Went to the internet cafe (no line) to upgrade to streaming ($10 per day for two devices each same deal logon/logoff) since I could not watch Youtube last night.

Have the same problem with not being able to airdrop photos from iphone to macbook. It has to be this macbook. I got it on board Celebrity to use up hundreds of dollars of OBC after covid. They were last years model sitting on these laid up cruise ships. Will have to wait to get home to upload everything.

Lunch was great on the veranda. Having booked this cabin before the ship was built I had my travel agent check on which one bedroom suites had the largest balcony. Deck 7 has the largest with them getting smaller as one climbs upward. It is similar to the Royal Suite on Seaships with NO hot tub, but twice the size. Large over hang ensures shade most of the day. Instead of leaving the soiled plates until turn down service this evening the butler asked if it would be okay to have a colleague pick up the lunch tray in one hour. It was so enjoyable DW wants to do it again tomorrow. That's another personal vexation of mine, seeing soiled trays and untouched food placed outside passengers cabins in the hallways. A simple call to room service is all that is needed to get soiled dishes picked up from inside one's cabin.

Last night was uneventful. The 9:30pm show put both of us to sleep dozens of times in its 45 minutes duration. Might have stayed asleep had it not been for the constant applauding of the only member of the audience doing so, the cruise director seated in front of us. Real high school amateur stuff. No headliners.

The only lines that form on this ship are the lines for the restaurants at 6:30 opening time. Again our butler anticipating our desire to eat early suggests that he pick us up at our cabin at 6:15 and escorts us to "our" table (previously selected on day one) cutting in and around the line. Just like Yacht Club.

DW brought a second MacBook Pro and I switched to this and can now airdrop. Here is the self service table in the Terminal J. We parked 100 feet away in the parking garage. The parking Garage J was open and the gate was up. No tickets. No attendant collecting. Plenty of parking. In the background of the second photo are the vending machines for chips and soda.

Looking fwd to reading.

We enjoyed our Regent sailing several years back (AK/inner passage)

Big difference in ships/price tag etc.

We enjoy YC, and do our best to avoid spring break. And I do call attention (via Concierge/YC Dir/Security) of child issues...

Others kids (or adult bad behavior alike) should not encroach on my vacay.

These cruise lines are very generous when it comes to stocking ones favorite libations. Our travel agent has varied taste. She says she drinks anything since covid. Photo one 6 bottles on Regent; photo two, 10 bottles + In Yacht Club.

It's a good thing YC gives you two bottles of vodka.

If you run out of Lysol, you can use one of the bottles as a sanitizer.

Didn't know what this was at the foot of the bed until we came back to the cabin after the show. The stewardess puts it up every evening and we put it down.

You have a retractable TV at the end of the bed? Nice suite

Kind of how I feel about gin I couldn't tell the sparkling wine brand in the YC, I suspect it is a proseco, but I love the Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label on Regent and the Patron Reposado. Wild Turkey, I could skip though. I like the Jack in the YC, but as I recall on both Regent and in the YC, you to choose your poison.

Yes, Regent gave me a list to choose from before boarding as does MSC. Only the butlers on MSC disregard this preference list and just to cover the guest preferences they put 10 bottles of whatever  up on the self and will switch out when one boards. For the price one can not beat MSC YC. One just has to put up with intolerable "children" of all ages that get into the Yacht Club, 'by hook or by crook'.

Then what would I use for mouthwash?

The juniper berries in gin might, perhaps, provide an outdoorsy, pine-scented note to one's breath. Maybe you have a red flannel shirt?

OH Mr. Morpheus...I'm blushing....

Sorry. It is just that I am of the age that things that once had a more positive effect now have the opposite affect to my gastrointestinal tract.

Never too old.

"Never too old." I once thought that myself....until I got here.

Yes our MSC butler was excellent at stocking our choices. In fact said that in spite of pre sail forms etc sent, that he liked to check and bring exactly what we wanted.

A great gin martini is always in fashion.

Gin Gibson too.

I'd use the tequilla to wipe things down instead of drinking it after learning the hard way in more than once 🍸
