Cruising in September

Recommended Posts

I’m going on the Carnival Breeze western Caribbean cruise September 9th - 14th. I’m not as nervous about Hurricane season as I am about the heat. Just how hot is it going to be? And how do I deal with it?

It’s going to be in the 80s, probably high humidity.  Stay in the shade and keep hydrated, preferably not with alcohol or caffeine.  Or stay in a/c.  EM

It's generally pretty hot in Florida in September. One thing to remember is it's also football season, and traffic will be a little heavier if you're sailing from Fort Lauderdale. While it's not Miami or Coral Gables or Miami Gardens, you could still run into some extra traffic if there's a home game before you depart.

Fort Lauderdale "average" temperatures are 89/76.

Port Canaveral "average" temperatures are 86/76.

That's odd. Google got it wrong, I guess. I just did a search for where the Breeze sails from and it said Fort Lauderdale or Port Canaveral. Silly google haha.

Wear a hat and sunscreen, the Caribbean sun is more intense than farther north.

Wet and wear a bandanna around your neck.

Loose (flowy) skirts are supposedly cooler than pants and will protect your legs from the sun better than shorts.

As Essiesmom stated, stay hydrated and stay in the shade as much as possible.
