bob10173 Posted March 29 #1 Share Posted March 29 Do MSC ships dock in in Venice or are passengers tendered? I understand that whatever it is distant from everything in Venice. True? Any suggestions for tours in Venice?
Rare Essiesmom Posted March 29 #2 Share Posted March 29 MSC uses the dock in Marghera where the fast ferries dock. Across the lagoon from Venice proper. Perhaps Fusina? There is a ferry from Fusina to Venice.
CruisingFox27 Posted March 30 #3 Share Posted March 30 Sometimes the ship will dock in Trieste instead, which is a good 2 hours from Venice. We embarked in Trieste but passengers embarking prior to us had Venice (Trieste) listed on their itinerary.
Rare steamboats Posted March 31 #4 Share Posted March 31 MSC docks in Marghera which is an industrial port. The check in is at the cruise terminal. Guests are bussed or ferried over to Marghera (and back again for departure). The Fusina ferry is not even close to Marghera. And even with the ship docked in Fusina there´s no way walking to the ferry (been there last year with another cruise company). steamboats

That is a lot of people wanting to go someplace at the same time. Do all the cruise ships dock at Marghera or Fusina? According to the port of Marghera website, the Sinfonia docks there. Rare steamboats Posted March 31 #6 Share Posted March 31 It depends in the cruise line. MSC usually docks in Marghera. Other cruise lines in Fusina. NCL moved to Trieste, RCI ans Celebrity to Ravenna. On embarkation day I would drop my bag at the cruise terminal and check in but then go into town instead to the ship and take a later shuttle. The bus ride is about half an hour. The boat maybe 45 min. So you lose a lot of time going back and fourth. steamboats
