justjan2 Posted April 16 #1 Share Posted April 16 Can you hear very much noise if you have a connecting room?
jmelnick Posted April 16 #2 Share Posted April 16 Definitely more noise than a non-connecting room. It really depends on the neighbors. Once, we had neighbors who loved to keep their balcony door open. This caused loud whistling from the connecting door. We ended up putting a rolled up towel by the door to cut down the wind noise. 1
Rare karatemom2 Posted April 16 #3 Share Posted April 16 We have ended up with connecting rooms a couple of times and though it isn't my preference, just because I don't like the door there, we didn't notice any noise or issues related to being in that type of room. We were fortunate to have respectful neighbors, so unless you have some exceptionally loud, noisy, or rude people next door you should be fine. And honestly, the walls aren't that thick, so connecting cabin or not, noisy people next door would be an issue even without a connecting door. Thankfully Princess cruisers seem to be a thoughtful group!
Alaska05 Posted April 16 #4 Share Posted April 16 Our last cruise we could hear our neighbor’s TV. A first for us and we did NOT have connecting rooms.

Rare JordanF Posted April 16 #6 Share Posted April 16 More noise goes through the door than through the wall. I try to avoid them, but it's not a deal breaker for me.

Rare JimmyVWine Posted April 18 #8 Share Posted April 18 Never had any issue and I've a cabin that connects next door at least 3 times. The area of connection is actually the width of two doors, yours and theirs, stacked together. This should provide at least as much protection as a wall. 555 Posted April 19 #11 Share Posted April 19 Just stay away from rooms with connecting doors and you'll probably never hear much of any noise.
Yehootu Posted April 19 #12 Share Posted April 19 Not a peep on the Majestic right now. Just wish people would realize that letting their door slam does affect other rooms.
john watson Posted April 19 #13 Share Posted April 19 The situation is exacerbated if your mother in law or other family members are in the adjoining cabin. They make noise just the same but also want to come through the door to see if you are all right. Lol John
