I said I loved the scallops. They no longer have the scallops. Thats why I said POOP. Never did I say that the scallops have poop. Jeepers creepers!!!

"I love those scallops. Poop". It's two sentences.

It seems that my tongue-in-cheek attempt at a humorous yet deadpan take on the juxtaposition of "scallops" and "poop", which clearly were two separate sentences, fell flat.  I guess I need to hone my act at the comedy club a bit more.  Sorry you didn't get the punch line.

They should get rid of that American Diner on the pool deck, never seen or spoke to anyone who dined there. Maybe the Q restaurant would be a better swap here.

My family ate at the American Diner multiple times. The food was excellent (especially the chocolate mousse), the service was excellent, and the fact that it's open air was nice, when the weather cooperated. I think that was the limiting factor; people didn't want to eat semi-outdoors when it's too cold or too hot. To each their own, more seating for me next time, assuming it's still there.

Yes, unfortunately so.

I won't miss it! We walked out after the first dance number, when they dimmed the lights. The women were virtually dressed in lingerie; I didn't need to see that! I felt extremely uncomfortable sitting next to my wife while other women were dancing on the stage in outfits she wouldn't wear outside of the bedroom! I ended up staring at my lap until I could escape.

I will need to look for USB in our cabin. There are still broken things in our cabin and in the restrooms. Soap in public restrooms is in short supply. Enclosed areas of the casino are by Shanghai Noodle (aft / starboard corner) and port / forward corner. Slight background smoke smell other casino areas, at least I am no longer gaging crossing deck 7.

Entertainment is like decades ago cruise ships, small localish acts. Europhia singing duo from Liverpool and violinist David Kovacs from Hungary are performing many nights.  MDQ nights are pushed back to a couple nights towards the end of the cruise.

Spineless NCL Miami HQ made more port changes about 48 hours before departure,  but decided not to publicly announce the changes. Instead they had the Southampton port workers hand out a letter as everyone checked-in. Poor lady who checked us in late in the afternoon,  her first words were: "don't shoot the messenger ".

We had chatted NCL predeparture and known about these changes,  so now we are on the train out of the port town of A Coruna.

any pics of the room? balcony? you rock. have fun.

There are really no visible differences to the room or balcony other than the new bedside light fixtures with the USB ports built in.

I agree No major modifications. Entertainment is pretty pants. A violinist in theatre?? No usbs in cabins, but we came prepared. American diver still here as is the Illusionarium. Miostcof carina is now non-smoking thankfully. But the smell still permeates the rotunda area at 678.

Bar offerings are different - no IPAs at all. All lagers and a couple of ciders. Cocktail list has changed too. But they will make off menu ones for you.

my biggest gripe is our cabin it is the tiniest cabin ever. Our steward said that they are usually only for one person but they stuck an extra bed in. We arrived to twin beds, no drawers at all and a tiny wardrobe. So a lot of our stuff is in the case under the bed. Our steward changed the bed configuration and we haven’t shuffle sideways to get in it!
we requested an accessible cabin as I  am disabled….. .customer services said they arrange a move. But we’ve heard nothing. So it looks like we will just have to make it work.

Oh and another itinerary change. To be honest I’m past caring. Pass me a cocktail. 🤣🤣🤣

Interesting. We are in a balcony stateroom.

Of note, the Tropicana Room has been rebranded into the Manhattan Room to match other ships in the fleet. Interior decor has been lightened to match existing theming on other ships.

I find this hard to believe.  The Studio cabins (the only ones on the ship ACTUALLY originally designed for one passenger) have no room to stick an extra bed in.

1. no mini golf?

I believe that was removed and never replaced when they installed the exhaust scrubbers during the pandemic.

Inside cabins were always meant for at least two people.  Some hold four!  If you leave the beds apart (two twins) it seems like you have more room.  Easier to get in & out of the beds.

I actually prefer the smaller studio cabins to an inside cabin.  I loved my studio on the Getaway.  One larger (than twin) bed that wasn’t just two beds pushed together with a gap in the middle. It was one full mattress.  And more storage than an inside cabin.  Those studios have always been meant for just one person.

After a 15-night Panama Canal cruise in an inside cabin on the Bliss I actually think I would have preferred a Studio.  That closet in the inside was HORRIBLY designed and I have no idea how FOUR people (it had two Pullman beds in it) could go a week in such a cabin!  In the future - it's balcony or Studio.  I took the inside because it was a little cheaper than the Studio.

The new USB ports in the bedside lamp appear to be affected by pulling your card when leaving the room. So you need to leave a card in the slot by the door to charge.  Also the lamp USB outlets are high enough above the bedside table a short charging cable could have your phone dangling to charge.

I would expect this, they don't want people charging devices when they're not in the cabin.  Cabin stewards are even asked to unplug devices they find plugged in when they visit a cabin.

{snip}

MDQ is probably a new cast and they typically schedule those sorts of shows to the back half of the cruise so the cast get a chance to rehearse in the theatre.

As for the background smoke smell the only way to get rid of that, quickly, would be to rip out and replace all the soft furnishing and carpets. I'm hoping by the time I sail in January there'll have been enough cleaning rounds to have reduced it.

Interesting. I noticed that and I understand why they do that. I’ve never had one of my devices catch on fire, but I have experience both my iPhone and iPad overheating, at times.

Most people don't, but the possibility that it could happen is enough as fire at sea is a problem...

When the Galaxy thing was going on they were all over it with info in cabins, in FSD, and info for crew we saw in the BTS tour.  Lately seems less in your face.

There are a couple reasons - the Note 7 was so long ago and they were blocked so hard that they're certainly not being used, plus it's part of the cruise contract that the Note 7 is not allowed on the ship.

@stellarose33 I usually bring an old hotel keycard to use in that slot, but I usually pull it out enough to turn off the power when I leave the room.  I just do that so I don't leave my keycard in there by accident.

Thanks for the hotel card tip! I stay in enough hotels to supply the whole family! Like you, I’ll just use it to keep up with my stateroom key.

I actually ended up with 3x more than I needed on my last trip - I brought one and planned to use the app for the hotel to unlock the door but they didn't have my room ready in time so the desk assigned a different room and gave me 2x cards to get in!
