Questions Re: Casino offer

Recommended Posts

Hello, I am a newbie here on Carnival but have sailed them twice in the past.  I have been sailing Princess for years now.  I have been offered what I would call an entry level casino offer of up to a free balcony on certain sailings.  Of course, I have to pay a $200 deposit since I am a solo and port fees and taxes.  As I understand it, that $200 will be credited for either OBC or casino play.  Can you tell me which it is?  Also, when I find a cruise I want to take, will I get to choose the cabin I want within the category such as balcony, outside or inside?  Or will it be assigned to me and I have no choice.  I don't mind anywhere on the ship except far forward.  Just can't handle that.  Thank you very much for your help.

It depends on your offer as to whether or not you can choose your room and how full the sailing is. Most of the time i have been able to pick but I do have a cruise in Dec that is a guarantee. As for the $200 credit, it just comes off your bill. So if you get cash in casino and charge to sail and sign it should be applied as long as there are no other charges first. Of course this could have changed since I last sailed. Not sure if you have a PVP at Carnival, but you can give your prferences as to where and where not you want to be. They can also tell you if you have any casino credits ( separate from the $200 deposit)

Hope this helps

Just to expand on the previous information, which is all correct, there are various casino comp offers some which are guarantee cabin offers where you actual cabin is assigned at a later date and some which you can pick your actual cabin. The $200 deposit is returned as onboard credit which can be used for everything, gratuities, onboard purchases, and casino cash advances via the slot machines.

When you call and reserve the casino department will let you know which chain offer it is. It's always helpful to have the ship's deck plans at hand so you can actually see where the cabin is when you're calling Carnival to book your offer.

I have always been able to select my cabin when I make the reservation, so Krackpot's suggestion to have the map handy is a good one!

Yes, the $200 deposit becomes a (unrestricted) On Board Credit on Day 1 of the cruise.  I don't know if your offer includes a beverage package ("Drinks on Us" or "Drinks On Us Everywhere"), but that OBC is good to be used against your gratuities, beverages, specialty restaurants, photos,  shore excursions, other purchases.  And also you can use it for gaming charges.

For me, it always gets used up, and reduces my credit card charge by that $200.  I've never thought about whether it is refundable, because it is always exhausted.

You should be able to go to Carnivals booking website and enter your VIFP number in the 'Deals' dropdown.  It will list all of your offers.  In most cases, you be able to pick your actual room, but some dates on some sailings will be "to be assigned".

I have just received my first "casino offer" email yesterday as I have Diamond status with Caesars Rewards.

What are the gambling requirements, if any with these packages.  I have been known to spend some quality time in the casino.  However, I do NOT want to spend 4-6 hours each day tied to the casino.

Comped cruise offers don't require a guarantee from the cruiser that you'll gamble a certain amount. You can take advantage of the offer and not step into the casino at all and there won't be any issues or charge backs.
