Canna Posted June 1 #1 Share Posted June 1 Any Canadians have issues getting a price adjustment? I booked our cruise online directly with NCL. On the Canadian site, in Canadian dollars. Today I was doing a mock booking to see if the price had changed since booking. I noticed the price is about $85 (canadian) less now. I called NCL to have a price adjustment and he told me the price isn't actually different it's just the exchange rate that has changed and wasn't able to do anything for me. I don't understand how the exchange rate has anything to do with it if I booked on the Canadian site in Canadian dollars. I haven't made final payment, so if they won't price adjust me, I guess in theory I could just cancel and rebook. But seems like a pain for something I feel like they should be able to do. Thoughts? I've never price adjusted before so made I'm wrong.

Rare CaptainBazz Posted June 1 #3 Share Posted June 1 We have had several price adjustments over the years...we pay in CDN$ and exchange rate never came into it. I would call again and get someone different to talk to.
julig22 Posted June 1 #4 Share Posted June 1 I'd call back. I recently had an issue with a price adjustment - not CND$ but a little more complex than normal. I had used NCL CC points to upgrade to a balcony but the pricing is based on an OV. I called 2 times and both times was told that the price hadn't changed. I had to wait until my PCC finally got around to answering her phone to get the pricing changed. Lost my double points because of that delay - not overly happy about that (not that I'll probably ever make Ambassador anyway) - but I did get the better price. mattie00 Posted June 3 #6 Share Posted June 3 So...if the exchange rate changes to make the cruise more expensive in CDN$, would you want NCL to increase the cost of the cruise? Not sure I would like to see that happen.
SlipperyP Posted June 3 #7 Share Posted June 3 In my experience, there isn’t a “Canadian” rate per se. The Canadian rate is based on the US rate + the exchange rate on the given date; as a result, the Canadian cost fluctuates often. You will notice that the amount for Free at Seas bar and dining gratuities will fluctuate similarly on the Canadian site (even though those amounts are static in USD). Because we can’t see the USD amount that our Canadian cost is based on, it can be difficult to know when there has been a “real” price adjustment as opposed to exchange rate change. In this case, I think I would take NCL at their word and cancel and re-book for the savings.

Spoke to another agent and my price adjustment was completed quickly and easily.

If the price goes down (even because of currency exchange rates) I essentially could just cancel and rebook at the lower price. Thankfully I didn't have to do that. The first agent just didn't know the price could be adjusted due to currency changes. They also do give you the lower price if the price drops. When the cruise date increases they never raise your price.
