Civitavecchia Port to FCO (Rome) for an 11:40 AM flight

We have a 12:10 flight from FCO and booked a shared shuttle.  I was nervous bc I have heard stories about shared shuttles saying, "Oh sorry - no one else signed up so you'll have to pay XXXX more to make it a private shuttle" or get left in the lurch.  However, I have already been notified that others have signed up for the 7:30 shared shuttle so I feel a bit safer that they won't back out.  I also plan to research a back-up to get to FCO in case this does happen.

I also booked the fast track for our party.  Not sure it will help but for the few euros it cost, I'd rather have it and not need it then need it and not have it.

I am still confused about the Fast Track at FCO. There isn't much discussion of this online (at least not that I can find.)

I'm not sure what it gets you, other than possibly skipping the line (if any) at security screening. Some people say security is not the worst line.  Apparently, it doesn't have anything to do with passport control.

I suppose it might be a case of it's better to  "Have it but not need it"...as opposed to the worst case of "Needing it but not having it." It's only seven euro p/p...but still I struggle with getting it or not getting it.

I'd really like input from someone who has actually used it. Maybe a new thread is in order...

I bought the Fast Track for my flight last year from FCO.  I never ended up using it, as there was no one at the place where I would have entered the Fast Track line.   I looked around a bit, then gave up and went through the regular security line, which wasn’t bad at all.  The most time I spent in line was before security, when I dutifully arrived 3 hours before my 9:45 am flight to ORD, which turned out to be before the United agents who handled checked bags started their work day. 😕

In September, I am again flying home from FCO this year on the same 9:45 am flight.   I’ll probably pay the €7 again, knowing it may be a waste of money.  It’s that better to have it and not need it scenario.

We had a 10:40 flight out of FCO that we made with no problem. (flying economy)

(it was a saturday though!)

Arrival of our ship was 6.00, disembarkation (walkoff) started before 7.

We carried our own bags and

had preordered cse (civitavecchia shuttle express). They werde excellent!

(cost was 140 E)

Did you book a shared or private shuttle?

Wanted to come back and share how things turned out. Ship documentation said we'd be there by 6 AM, but we left La Spezia late because a couple of people were running late. Not even sure they made it on, but we left about 1.5-2 hours later than expected and still made it to Civitavecchia early.

However, they would not let anyone disembarking the ship (getting off the cruise) off until 7 AM, and that is when we were released to walk off-EXACTLY at 7 AM. For In Transit passengers or passengers on Princess excursions, they were allowed to walk off around 6:30 AM, but only they were allowed. It was a nail biter for about 15 minutes. I was worried about the short wait window for the pick up.

Our private pick up was on time (we booked through Bob's Limousine, but our pick up was from Colosseum Travel-Bob's charged the deposit and the second charged the remainder on the credit card).

We were around the first to walk off for disembarking passengers, and we had to wait a few minutes for our driver who arrived at 7:10 (we booked 7:15 AM pick up and the driver would only wait until 7:30 AM).

Since our prior port was in Italy and we disembarked in Civitavecchia there was ZERO passport control to go through. We just walked off with our own bags and off we went-easiest disembarkation EVER.

The drive to the port, on a Saturday morning at 7:15 AM, was easy and fast. Got there in about 45 minutes. FCO is a BIG airport, bigger than I had remembered. We flew into it last year, I just hadn't been paying much attention then because we picked up our bags and got a taxi to our hotel that time.

Once at the airport, we did self check-in for our bags on Ryanair and went to check out the airport. There are a lot of places to eat at FCO. We did Eataly, but I wish I had kept walking as there were sit down restaurants that looked less hectic after we ate. We waited for them to announce our gate and headed over to it. Lined up early because we had backpacks and were in the front row of our flight and didn't want to have to walk backwards to get our bags. We had A LOT of time at the airport beforehand. Probably could have done a later pick up, but with the changed flight, I felt more comfortable just getting to the airport early.

Could you post who you booked for your shared shuttle.  Thanks

Thanks so much. This is company we have used 3 times when going to Civitavecchia. So glad to know they are still in business. Will try to remember to ask you how it went. They were always  waiting for us but had to look around for their sign. There were lots of drivers with signs waiting for their riders.

We're in same boat (pun intended) with early flight from FCO. From reading evryone's experience we're leaning to private transfer. Does anyone know what services are port-approved and can come through gates without issue? In Athens (Piraeus)  welcomepickups drver wsa late because he had to show credentials, would prefer not to have that this time.

All the commonly recommended ones, like Rome in Limo.
