Pre-cruise hotel and transfers

We typically don't take the Regent air flights or Pre-cruise hotel that Concierge (and above) provide, preferring to take the rebate and book our own. But on on upcoming cruise on Voyager we're unusually taking the Pre-cruise hotel at Rome and transfers through Regent (but not flights). 

So what is the process on arriving at Rome airport, please?    Do we have to tell Regent what flight we're on or just arrive and look out for Regent transfer signs (which we've seen around previously)? Then does the transfer coach wait for more cruisers to arrive to fill up, or leave fairly promptly? 

Anyone with details, especially at Rome, would be much appreciated!

I had a similar question, although we DID book our flights through Regent.

Also, the next morning will a Regent transfer coach be at the hotel to take us to the ship?

If you are doing your own flight to Rome, you are responsible for arranging the transfer to Regent's assigned hotel.  Once there--Regent will take care of next-day's  transfer from hotel to Port. Likewise, you will be responsible for transfer off the ship to airport upon completion of cruise.

Regent will take care of your transfer from Rome airport to Regent's hotel; later transfer van (or bus) to Port.  Regent will also handle your transfer from ship to whatever airport you will utilize to return home.

In that case the only included transfer that Regent will provide is from the hotel to the ship on embarkation day.

As you are not taking Regent flights, airport transfers are not included (unless you are on a Regent 3-day pre-cruise land tour)

On the transfer from Regent hotel to the port, we've left our luggage in the room and it disappeared during breakfast.  It magically appeared at our suit.  That is regardless if you take the transfer bus or decide to take a taxi/uber instead.

 

On one cruise, the hotel was so close to the port we opted to take an inexpensive taxi and beat the bus crowd to check in.

We embark in Rome and I was thinking maybe we could do some touring before embarking.

Is it safe to leave our carry-ons (with medications, etc.) in the room for them to take?

 

EDIT: I just checked and Civitavecchia is an hour from Rome. Guess we'll take the bus.

Yeah it's faster to get to the airport than downtown Rome from the port. But in this case I would take the bus too.

Retiredonvacation - We recently booked our own flights to Tokyo but used the included pre-cruise hotel. We gave Regent our flight details and were met and transported to the hotel along with 6 others passengers. There was no charge for the transfer. Regent’s representatives were very visible after baggage claim.

 

On embarkation day we were taken on a short tour before boarding in time for lunch.

 

The one snag was that the driver couldn’t drive to the hotel due to the Tokyo marathon and we were off-loaded to walk to the hotel with our cases ☹️.

Oops, just realised we had the pre-cruise tour not the one night stay in Tokyo!  That is why we had the airport transfer. Apologies 🤭.

We had a slightly different experience. We arranged our own flights but had the included one night hotel stay in Barcelona. We were met at the airport and transferred to the hotel. No extra charge. We were in a PH (Voyager).

I believe if you arrive or depart at the same time Regent would normally get you there or have you leave they will include transportation to their hotel/ship/airport.  At least if you deviate (pick your own flights through them) and don't arrive early or leave late then they will.  We deviated on our cruise (which I ultimately cancelled for Covid) for our return flight, but since we were going directly to the airport we would have been able to use Regent transport to the airport no charge.

If you have valuables or important ( eg medications) items in your carryon, you

may wish to keep them in your possession, safe or not.

 

Port is about 90 minutes from city center so Regent transfer is very attractive.

 

You could inquire w Regent about the transfer from airport but the answers may be as variable as our experiences.
