Rare pierces Posted June 10 Author #2 Share Posted June 10 We spent Friday afternoon battling LA traffic, limited parking and surprisingly hot weather to watch Savannah walk the walk at the end of her high school career. Since her sister is four years older, this is the second graduation we have attended in the last few weeks and while we are enormously proud of the Granddaughters and their academic success, we have had enough crowds, speechifying and butt-numbing seating to hold us for a while. While waiting for the ceremony, I did that thing where you look up the student’s name and found a little symbol and an asterisk next to Savanna’s. I found that they meant she earned the Golden State Merit Award and had a weighted GPA of 4.0 or above. I did say “enormously proud”, didn’t I? zackiedawg Posted June 18 #3 Share Posted June 18 Well I was at Disney World for my quarterly vacation again - this time I went with a friend who hadn't been there in 12 years - so the first few days I didn't take any photos as I was busy letting her choose what to do and catching up. On that Sunday, I finally started snapping a few shots as we walked around - this was not as much of a 'photo-centric' trip as I was there with someone not into photography, and I know I'll be there again in 3 months, so no biggie!... The heat was intense - 98 degrees plus 80-90% humidity - setting records with heat indexes exceeding 112. The upside? Very low crowds - the lowest I've seen in Epcot in 10 full years. This was the UK pavilion: Boating through the fish farms on the Living with the Land tour: That UK shot wasn't a fluke - taking this photo at the Japan pavilion, look down to the left and you can see the main circle around Epcot with sparse crowd (normally, that's packed with humanity):: We had dinner 220 miles above Earth, at the Space 220 restaurant - dinner started a bit before sunset, so Earth is still day: By the time dinner ended at 8:45pm, night had fallen below on earth:
