Suggestions needed for using the European outlet

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

We are going on the Carnival Luminosa in September and have a premium balcony.  We have since found out there is only one US plug in the room on the desk with the sofa the sofa across from it, we wanted to use the European outlet that is next to the bed.  Anyone have suggestions on what is a good adapter/converter to use?

Thanks for your help!!!!

Go to Amazon and type in EU outlet adapter.  Any one will do.  Just make sure whatever you plan to plug into it is dual voltage.  EM

Or just buy a power strip (without a surge protector) and use that. It's what I do.

Edit: A power strip with a long cord. I should probably mention that. There are lots out there with like 15' cords n such.

The Luminosa’s 220v plug is an Australian 3-point plug, not the European 2-point plus ground on the ring (Schuko) plug like almost all the others.

The first attached image is Australian, the second is European/German “Schuko” type.

From Carnival’s website:

On all ships, each stateroom has one electric outlet located at the desk. The outlet is equipped with a 3-prong 110 volt (North America Grounded) and a 220 volt (Europe German-Style). On the Carnival Celebration, Carnival Jubilee and Mardi Gras, there are three outlets located at the desk.

On the Carnival Luminosa and Carnival Splendor, the staterooms are fitted with a 3-prong 110 volt (North America Grounded) as well as a standard Australian 3-point plug; adaptors providing 220/240 volt 60Hz are available upon request.

Actually, after watching a youtube video of the premier balcony room, besides the standard US outlet and three prong outlet on the desk, it has a third European outlet next to the bed.  It is an indented circle with what looks like two prong outlet.
