Was he the lead for the show you saw?

No sorry I didn’t catch his name. I will try and find it. This person had shorter dark almost black hair. He was very good.

They do have cheese in them but if you go to the IC in the morning and let them know they can make some without. As for other dairy he said no but I hope that wasn’t a language barrier answer. You may want to tell them when you make your request.

I forgot the other question once I passed them without a line I jumped to ask.

I get coffee there every morning so I will ask it in the morning.

Thank you for checking. I have never been able to have a sandwich made even when I have made a request ahead of time. I have been talking to guest services for the past few years so I was hoping things had changed. It’s one thing not being able to find food that I can eat on a 7 day cruise but a 17 day cruise will be a bit different. Thank you so much for checking for me.

When I go back in the morning I will try ordering one without cheese and see what happens.

Last night was the first formal of 2. Everyone we noticed in the MDR was dressed very nice. Walking around I only saw one tuxedo and one tuxedo on a child. So cute. But many long dresses, fancy pantsuits and semi-formal length. It was nice seeing so many dressed up.

Dinner was nothing special but the beef tenderloin was good. After dinner went to see a comedian and he was funny but is getting off in St Thomas and then we went to the Princess Theater to see the magician. He was okay. It’s hard to enjoy a magician in such a large venue and it was packed. He is also getting off in St Thomas.

At the end I will take pictures of all the platters. I am terrible with remembering names.

We were disappointed that there wasn’t trivia in the daytime. There was bingo that seemed crowded. We decided to try a wine tasting. Meh, at best. It was very long for 6 wines to the point they seemed to be dragging it out to last an hour.IMG_6327.thumb.jpeg.afdc21a9956c6df6f1f925a48051381f.jpeg

We walked around and looked in the shops. We were out by the pool until 1130a, and then walked around. The casino was bigger than I thought. The smoke wasn’t bad at all at that time but boy can you smell it by 5p. No one was in the arcade.

Today is St Thomas with 3 ships. One is Icon of the Sea so it will be busy. We have the sky ride excursion and that is all that is planned. We are going to get off early before Icon gets in and do the sky ride and shop a little then go back to the ship. All aboard is at 930p and Icon leaves at 8p so we plan on getting back off around 5 or 6p hoping the restaurants will not be crowded. The other ship is Enchanted and they leave earlier also.  We love docking where we can get on/off and able to walk into towns.

You were correct. The morning baker said no they come with cheese that they can take off but can not make any without. All sandwiches have cheese. The evening server was incorrect.  The chai is made with regular yogurt. No non dairy yogurt.

I will add the disappointment to my survey as that is an easy fix by Princess and a lot of people have dairy allergies.

IC did have soy and almond available as a cream for the coffee. I did not see almond in the buffet. I will look as I only drink almond.

Thank you so much for checking. Would it be ok if I copied what you wrote and sent it to Princess in a private message? I have been trying for years to get this corrected.

I have gone to the international café after 10 PM with my party and while everyone else received something to eat, I was told that I could not eat until the next day when the dining room was open. That’s just crazy. And they still have not corrected it. If there are six different types of sandwiches in the case, tell me why do the six sandwiches all need cheese on them?

Again, thank you so much for taking the time to do this for me.

When someone has allergies, you can’t just remove the cheese from the sandwich. I have a 17 day cruise booked in August and a 14 day cruise booked in October and I can’t even get a dang sandwich without cheese. So disappointed.

Thank you for adding the disappointment to your survey. It really doesn’t need to be this hard. My upcoming 17 day cruise on the Emerald Princess is cruise #24 for me with Princess Cruises… You would think I’d be able to get a sandwich without cheese by this time.

Hmmm....that's weird about all having cheese. I've had a grilled veggie, BBQ, and tuna salad from IC with no cheese. But it's been a while, like August 2022 on Caribbean Princess. Also, techincally not a sandwich, but avocado toast in the AM.

I’ve sailed many times with Princess and this happens every single time so it’s definitely not weird to me. I was really happy when I saw the avocado and egg toast but then I was told I couldn’t have it because they had butter or cheese or something spread on it. Did the BBQ have butter in the sauce? I am not vegan. I have a dairy allergy. I would love a ham, turkey, or roast beef sandwich without cheese or other dairy products. Thankfully, I am OK with bread. It shouldn’t be this difficult.

I have no idea about the BBQ sauce ingredients. I just know it didn't have cheese. I don't have any medical reason not to eat cheese, and I enjoy it by itself, but most sandwiches, I just don't like it, so that is why I know these didn't have cheese. I can't speak to any other dairy product because I've simply not needed to pay close attention. I'm sorry you have had difficulty finding items. There's almost always cold cuts and bread in the buffet to construct a dairy free sandwich.

Thank you. My party likes to stop by the IC during the odd hours when other venues are closed and usually I get to sit and watch.

Is taking the slice of cheese off not enough on most sandwiches? They're cold, not melted or anything (unless you ask them to be heated).

Is your allergy so severe that even having it having touched something else before eating you can't have it? Ie, a turkey sandwich with a thin slice of cheese - you can't have after taking the cheese slice off?

That's rough, for sure..

The tuna sandwiches don't have cheese - at least, not in my experience, and they didn't this past Sunday on Emerald when I grabbed one to tide me over til lunch...

Unfortunately, I have a rare allergy called FPIES. I cannot just remove the cheese or other dairy product without the risk of a severe reaction. It is rough. I will try the tuna, thank you.

Ahh, dang. Yeah, that's really rough..  unfortunately, mass catering can't always handle the individual needs as well as we'd like..    Fortunately, there are other options, although not always the most convenient..

Consider perhaps making up a plate of cold cuts and rolls from the buffet and stashing in your fridge for those off times. You could then grab one while everyone is ordering at the IC..

You could perhaps order from Ocean Now for delivery while the others hit the IC  - the peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are remarkably tasty at 1 or 2 am, lol.  (Don't ask me how I know 😆

Good luck!

I’ve never thought about stashing anything in the fridge. I didn’t know if it would stay cold enough. I will definitely order the late night peanut butter and jelly… I’m always hungry after the casino. Thank you for the tips! 😂

I’m going to pack some baggies!

The fridge definitely is cool/cold enough to stash some rolls and cold cuts or similar..  and to help it stay cooler - prop the cabinet door open - it allows for better airflow thus keeping it cooler...

Good luck - hope your next sailing features a fair few more snacks!! 😁

I just got off Emerald on the previous cruise (5/30 to 6/9). We stored Chocolate covered strawberries in the fridge (got them on 2nd night of cruise from our CVP) and they kept plenty cold without doing any propping of the cabinet door. The trick (from what I've seen on my last three with the 2 previous on Sky) is to keep cans/bottles of fluid (water/soda) as they tend to hold the cold better than food. We put 2-3 bottles of warm water in the first night without doing anything with the door and the next morning they were cold.

Yes, please do because I agree with you. How hard is it to make a sandwich without cheese

Today, Skyride in St Thomas. It was simple enough and a little cooler up there. Nice views but not much else except shopping. Four ships in port so we are back at the ship to rest before going back out for maybe going back out for dinner. After drinks at least. We had lunch by the ship at China King and saw many, many crew members eating. That is when you know it’s a good place to eat. And it was good.  You can see it from the ship behind the shops and across the street.

I have decided if I travel on Emerald again it would only be on caribe as I have really enjoyed the aft location and the half covered large balcony.IMG_6332.thumb.jpeg.dbe4ddabc0cbdb0bbb922447d2aab1d0.jpeg

Totally agree with you ... these balconies are the best!

Thanks for posting this photo ... we'll be boarding after you, and now you've got us all excited to be enjoying our own Caribe deck balcony!

Let the packing begin!

Enjoy the rest of your cruise!
