dmwnc1959 Posted June 23 #1 Share Posted June 23 (edited) I've read that the last time Norwegian Jade was in the shipyard for upkeep and general maintenance was in 2017. She has a full schedule between now and the end of her Alaska season in 2025, and her Miami Fall 2024 schedule is a rotation of the shorter, high-turnover cruises with a lot of charters and weekend party cruises. Will there be no time between now and Spring 2025 when she will receive cosmetic upgrades to the public areas and staterooms? Eight years seems a loooong time. 🤔 Edited June 23 by dmwnc1959
roxette Posted June 23 #2 Share Posted June 23 According to NCL.com, Jewel was refurbished in 2022. 1

Was going off of some comments in an earlier thread from this year (and which referenced some 'official shipyard report data') where it was stated she had last been in 2017, and was due March 2025. Also reading current FB posts of her looking old, worn, and dated. 🤔 Edited June 23 by dmwnc1959

On the hotel side of replacing carpets, reupholster furniture and other things to make it look new and updated is sometimes not done
Rare luv2kroooz Posted June 23 #6 Share Posted June 23 Whatever you read is likely outdated. I believe ships need to be drydocked and inspected every 5 or so years.
Rare All-ready2cruise Posted June 23 #7 Share Posted June 23 Just to add to that info, I was just on the Jade in May, and found it to be in great shape. I know some feel that the smaller, older ships are not in updated shape; however, IMO, NCL is a cruise line which keeps their ships in updated shape. Everyone has the right to their own opinion. I love cruising. 2

I love cruising. We were on the Jade in February and we tried to leave it nice and clean for you. We loved the Jade, probably more than any other NCL ship we've been on. Take the ashtrays out of the bathrooms and the "No smoking in bed" signs and it's close to perfection. Oh yeah, de-smoke the casino and it would be even closer to perfection. 5

They are required to be dry docked for inspection twice in five years, with no longer than three years between dry dockings.
