bigpuss1 Posted June 24 #77 Share Posted June 24 Glad you enjoyed your cruise. Sad to say our Arvia cruise was the worst cruise we have ever been on, P&O do not know how run a ship with 5000 passengers all their rules and regulations went over board, it was more like Butlins on Sea. Gone are the days were you make a reservation in person ever thing is now on line so the good restaurants are nearly all fully booked before you board. We made the decision never to sail with P&O again. Peter Rees
lazey1 Posted June 24 #78 Share Posted June 24 Thank you for posting this review and the wonderful photos Graham. Being a former Insurance Claim Specialist it only makes sense to me that no one should ever publically share the information that their home will be empty during a certain time frame. That is just asking for trouble. Jane 7
maggieq Posted June 24 #79 Share Posted June 24 11 hours ago, grapau27 said: Good afternoon. We had a fantastic cruise on Arvia. We stayed in the Grand Harbour hotel in Southampton on June 8th and had a nice balcony overlooking the Solent. On June 9th there was a 3 hour delay for boarding while they did a deep clean but we boarded at 15.00pm. Our cabin was at the back with fantastic views of the ships wake. I had pre-booked our 14 nights Speciality restaurants on line. I booked 6 nights in Epicurean. 4 nights in Sindhu. 3 nights in the Beach house. 1 night in Limelight club where we saw Joe McEldery the 2009 X factor winner who lives 20 miles from us. Our itinerary was. Southampton. La Coruna. Valencia. Marseille. Barcelona. Alicante. Cadiz. Southampton. For breakfast we went to the Meridian restaurant. The Quays. 6th Street diner. For lunch we went to Meridian restaurant. The Quays. I have posted a selection of photos and if anyone has any questions please feel free to ask. VID_20240616_183826.mp4 VID_20240613_212851.mp4 @grapau27 thanks for doing his review. We stayed at same hotel before our encore ta in nov 2019. Should we cruise out of Southampton again, we will most certainly try to book it and hope for better weather to enjoy hotel and surroundings. 😊

I’m sure you would have recognised me - I’m the one that was a stone heavier at the end of the cruise than I was at the beginning 🤣🤣 I had to look up how much a stone was. Given how good that food looks, a stone seems about right for 14 days. Sounds muvpch less than 14 pounds. Maybe I should start using that reference. 3
Rare P&O SUE Posted June 25 #85 Share Posted June 25 Thank you Graham for your wonderful review. I was going to ask if it was your first time on Arvia but I see you have answered this. I definitely want to try Arvia but don’t want to leave my mum for that long at the moment. 2

Cunard has a "step test" requirement where one must be able to step across 2 lines about 18 inches apart before being able to board a tender. Is this a true of P&O or is it strictly a Cunard thing? Thanks Roy Anyone who uses a wheelchair or motor scooter has to let P&O know in advance of their disabilities so there are enough crew to help them in an emergency. It is a while since we had to use a tender but we have St Peter port Guernsey on our next cruise so will report back to you Roy.

Your pictures are great too. I love hearing your voice on the videos. How large is this ship passenger wise? Thank you Sharon for your lovely comments. Normal operating capacity is 5200 guests. 1800 crew. 184,700 tons. The cruise after us has over 2000 children on board so capacity will be well over 6,000 passengers. We never felt the ship was crowded though.
zap99 Posted June 25 #88 Share Posted June 25 (edited) Glad you had a great cruise Graham. Pauline's hat look nice and looks like you had some decent weather in A Coruña, for a change. I bet Greggs wondered where you were, but we all guessed. We loved our med cruise on Arvia, only complaint was Gail's beef was a bit fatty in the olive Grove. Easily fixed, she pinched my lamb. It does cover us but if you highlight on Social media with photos that you are away from home and we had a burglary the insurance Loss Adjuster would turn down any claim because they check social media and if it highlights we are away even though we have CCTV and alarms they would turn down any claim as irresponsible. This is why I Never do a Live From review or tell anyone we are away until we are back home. Edited June 25 by grapau27

It is wise to have someone living at your home if you advertise you are away on Social media.

The benefits are 1----20% discount. 2----Loyalty discount also taken off which is good because if you have a lot of OBC like we did your loyalty discount on board only starts after you have used up your OBC. 3----You can choose the time you want to eat.
