Jofema Posted July 1 #1 Share Posted July 1 We will be traveling through Canada the weeks before our Alaska cruise. Therefore, it will be a bit hard to print the boarding passes as they will not become available until halfway our trip. Is a paper boarding pass even required? We have already checked-in, so maybe the would also be able to check us in based on our passports, or digital versions of our boarding passes on our phone? Anyone have experience with this? Thanks. Sea42 Posted July 1 #2 Share Posted July 1 You should be fine with a digital/screen shot version of your boarding pass. Worst case scenario, the port has some type of electronic issue and they can't read it from your phone. In that situation they will generate a copy of the boarding pass for you. It might take a little bit of extra time but not a crisis situation.
Rare sunviking90 Posted July 1 #3 Share Posted July 1 Yes, we don’t print boarding passes anymore. We do print our confirmation that shows any OBC, etc just in case.
Rare 0106 Posted July 1 #4 Share Posted July 1 Make sure your boarding pass has a bar code. Then screenshot it. No paper required.
LetItSnow Posted July 1 #5 Share Posted July 1 More important are the bag tags. You should print those unless you are carrying on your luggage. Of course, you'll need a cabin number so hopefully you're not waiting for an assignment.
Jofema Posted July 1 Author #6 Share Posted July 1 Great, thank you all for your answers. We will use the navigator app and take screenshots of the digital boarding pass with barcode just in case.

It's just that the boarding passes won't be available until 10 days ahead of departure and we are then out camping.
CruiserBruce Posted July 1 #8 Share Posted July 1 Load the Navigator app on your phone. The boarding pass will be there. You don't need to print boarding passes. The dockworkers will provide them. @LetItSnow, your bag tag is NOT more important than the appropriate paperwork to get you on board. You could carry your luggage on board, but without the correct paperwork and related items, you are not getting on board.

Nowadays, pretty much any decent hotel will have a "business center" (or similar name) that has a computer and printer where you can print a few pages. By "decent hotel", I mean anything better than ultra-budget or mom-and-pop motels will have it. We have also given a USB drive, with a PDF file we created on our laptop, to the desk clerk to print for us. It should be no problem at all. I agree with CruiserBruce that forgotten luggage tags are no problem, since you can always hand write a luggage tag that the workers at the port will give you.

I understand, but we will be traveling by RV/motorhome instead of hotels for 3 weeks and definitely will not bring laptops. If really necessary we could of course search and find a place where we would be able to print from our phones, but if digital is accepted everything should be fine. Have had issues in a few terminals with the navigator app requesting I relog in and not have WIFI available, screen shot worked fine.

You will be fine...our last couple of cruises we have successfully boarded using the electronic boarding pass on the Navigator app....The only document we need in our hands is our USA passport. You are good to go based on our latest boardings. Enjoy the cruise.......and RVing along the way.

Screenshot from the Navigator App will work just fine - be sure they have the barcodes, though. Safe travels- enjoy your cruise and RVing.
