CABIN REASSIGNED

So basically a PCC that says they will go to bat for you means nothing.  Bottom line, book the cabin you want and if HAL needs it they will take it.  Luckily we do not have to book high volume/vacation cruises.  All I can say, is WOW, so sorry that HAL does not protect early bookings and family bookings.  JMO. Our PCC did not - Would not fight for us at all - wouldn’t even try.  Ultimately, she sent the message, “too bad, so sad.”

She said we would likely be moved and that “this policy has been in effect for years.”

Our original cabins are now gone and we have been relocated to cabins with two maximum capacity so that our family could stay next to each other.

NOT what CO or the Future Cruise Consultant promised us when we booked onboard in December, 2023.

This call and lack of empathy from both our PCC and HAL are extremely disappointing.  Our eight booked HAL cruises are soon to be decreased dramatically.  We won’t keep playing this game; it doesn’t work for us.

Have you been relocated or did you contact HAL and ask to be relocated to avoid a potential forced move?

HALs refusal to "grandfather" in the bookings made prior to the March 2024 implementation of this policy is very short sighted. Many of us book cruises right when they are listed so we can have a cabin in the location we want. It's likely that HAL will lose previously loyal customer over how this policy is being implemented. Including me. Does HAL realize that it costs 5x as much to acquire new customers than retain the ones you have? As a long time shareholder I am less than impressed with HAL's management.

That is assuming that the cruisers they might lose fit the profile of the cruisers they want in the future.

I am pretty sure we do not fit the desired cruiser profile on any cruise line i sail with. Heavy use of benefits, very little onboard spend, do not buy package, consider the cruise line to be pretty interchangeable. However  they are all stuck with us.

We received the “Stateroom Capacity Advisory” email, letting us know our cabin(s) are in jeopardy.  Because this is the Christmas cruise/ holiday sailing, the PCC told us the chances were high that we would be moved at HAL’s discretion.

To avoid having our son separated from us (we have him booked in the second cabin as a single), we decided it was best to move now while cabins are still available that fit the correct occupancy and that are next to each other.

Due to the loss (feels more like “theft”) of our original cabins and the horrific handling of this situation by HAL, we are still considering canceling altogether; just like HAL told us, “the chances are high.” 😑😑😑

Prior to Covid HAL had 250 PCC's. That amount dwindled down to 60 due to Covid. They are trying to replace those that are gone as quickly as possible. I would ask your PCC if she is one of the new hires post covid. If she is I would request a more seasoned PCC. We go through issues quite often with casino bookings and new hires that have no clue how to handle them. In that forum we are able to share the names of experienced PCC's that have been with HAL for years. Not only do they know how to handle the bookings they are well versed in the workarounds that can be implemented if issues arise.

I’m not sure, but her vocal “resume” would lead me to believe yes, she was there singing before Covid.

What forum is it where the PCC’s are discussed?

It's Holland America Casino Players on a forum that begins with what you see when you look in the mirror.

@forevercruising1 If this happens to us it will be our last HAL cruise for a long time.  We all have options.  Is it possible that you can bypass your PCC and go directly to a superior?  So sorry for the HAL response to you.  Cherie

I spoke with a supervisor who was unsympathetic and cold. Didn’t care a bit.
My PCC tried his best, did get a small compensation.

Just checked the 3 cabins I have on the Koningsdam for our family cruise in November.
I had an extended balcony and my family was in the 2 adjacent cabins. We were all moved. Called my PCC he had no notification. Called back and said that my cabin was a quad and since we were a double they changed all our cabins and now I have a regular balcony. Spoke to a supervisor who stated that was their policy. I have sent a letter to the president of HAL. Very disappointed,  I have another cruise booked for next year and was told I may be relocated if they need the quad. This happen to anyone else. Do you get any comppensation. Thanks

We just got an email that we (a couple) were moved from Deck 6, interior 6127 (supposedly slightly larger room, 3 person capacity with a couch/pull out bed) to Deck 4, interior 4125 (no sofa)  No compensation offered.

@Suncitycruiser1925 - I found a link of what your cabin looks like.  It is the same class ship as Koningsdam.  It looks nice.

Edited to add picture of 6127.  Yes, it has a couch but not very close to bed and probably not very functional except for storage.

Thank you very much for checking out cabin 4125 for me and sending me the Halfacts picture and the cruiser's comments about that cabin !  I greatly appreciate it and that makes me feel better about our cabin change!
