Muster these days?

How is Muster handled these days on Azamara?

Onboard Cunard in June, we watched a video playing in the stateroom upon entry and could not change the channel until having done so.  We then had our card key scanned at our Muster station to prove we knew where it was located.

Onboard Regent in November last year, we were required to watch the safety video through our online account where we signed in, posted credit card we would be using, etc. before boarding then it was also playing in the stateroom.  We again reported to and had our card key scanned at our Muster station to prove we knew where it was located.

We are so hoping Azamara has not reverted back to the Muster routine of days before Covid.

We boarded Pursuit earlier this week. Muster was conducted in small groups.

But, in April/May 2024 on Journey, all guests assembled in the muster stations in the late afternoon.

It all depends whether the Cabaret Lounge is being used to process check ins or not what the method is. If check in is on the pier it’s the small groups process if check in is onboard it is the all together method

In July (13th?) at Piraeus, part of check in on the Journey was in the cabaret lounge but the full muster was still there later on. Cruise cards had been issued in the terminal but credit card swipe, contract ‘signing’ and passport surrender was carried out in the lounge.

Are B2B passengers exempt for the second cruise?

Yes but only if you have the same muster station both cruises (does not have to be the same room)

Yes as I indicated whenever the cabaret is used for any element of check in (and that varies depending on what dock Azamara gets) they cannot do the group by group muster there as well so it has to be a full ship event later on.

Whilst the mass event is not ideal, it is only 50% of the Cruise passengers maximum that would be in one place so in many ways no worse than going to the dining room or theatre later on in the day in terms of contact with others.

This is not correct.

We boarded earlier this week. Brief check-in at the pier, then photo re-done where necessary (my wife's was too dark), Credit Card info taken in Cabaret, then on to the video presentation (with drink in hand) in a group of about 10 guests.

Thank you. The onboard rules seem to have changed recently. You certainly cannot have any border agent work and other activities in the same venue.

I cannot comment on this. The only border control that we were aware of was our bags etc. passing through a scanner as we were leaving the pier and before we boarded, i.e. after the first check-in.

The protocol may be dependent on the country or port of embarkation.

Border control related to passport checks and processing of exit documentation/stamping passports and can involve agents for a country due to be visited. You will always have baggage scanned regardless of where you do check in and any border processing

The agents scanning the luggage etc. at the pier were certainly Italian govt. officials - but there are so many FM different law-enforcement agents in Italy, that I could not tell you which they were.

AFAIK they did not check our passports or our Carta d'Identita.

Our passports had been scanned during the primary check-in process.

The half-a-dozen or so persons in Cabaret were either Azamara employees or Azamara's Port Agents.

As a matter of comment, this was by far the speediest check-in we have experienced, but was accelerated by the fact that we had already printed out, completed, and attached our Azamara luggage tags to our cases. As far as I could tell, none of the twenty or so guests ahead of us had done so.

Nevertheless, our luggage took a further 2½ hours to arrive at our suite!

Thanks, and that makes absolute sense. Our previous Azamara safety drills have been easy to do, and speedy, with no waiting around for inconsiderate others!

Yes, on Onward in June, we checked in on the pier and mustered in the cabaret and Discoveries, just like days of old.
