I could not bring myself to eat the calamari, but the rest was delish!!

The calamari is the best part.  We had fried calamari with fried jalapeno slices for our lunch appetizer today.  It was delicious.

I used the Nespresso machine to make some coffee while I was there

It is just me or does your 'coffee' look more like tea that coffee?  Looks a pale yellow to my untrustworthy eyes.

I used the Nespresso machine to make myself a cup of coffee one morning.  My wife was not a happy camper.  It was a little noisy and woke her up.

I love fried calamari, but this was just “marinated” in citrus juices and scared me. 😂

The coffee was good, I used the brown pods (not sure exactly what they are) and it did the job for me!

Last post for today.

We finished our evening just chilling in Topsail listening to Nigel, playing cards, having shots from the bartenders, and nibbling goodies. I did try the MSC Signature cocktail, oh my! A bit sweet but good! We came back to the room about 10:30, and now I am packing the beach bag for our day in Costa Maya tomorrow.

Many people (myself included) seem to have the same experience with the butler/junior butler. Maybe they're always busy escorting people around the ship?

@MonsterJoeTo my mind, if you think about it, the butler has other duties including, stints on the One Deck the Lounge, doing escorts, supporting the other butlers, etc. The Junior Butler is essentially the cabin attendant, and his/her focus is on maintaining the room, which makes that person usually much more visible to the guests on a regular basis during the stay. I do make sure to call them Junior Butler, not cabin attendant. They are very proud of their title, and only the best attendants are chosen for Yacht Club as Junior Butlers. That, coupled with the fact that this position is the steppingstone to the coveted position of Butler means they are constantly working and present.

It's all in the tenderizing process.  What we had on Divina was delicious and tender.

Maybe I'll give it another try, after she's awake.  Normally, I just get coffee and Bailey's at breakfast.

Pirate4me2: Love these Live Reports on CC and yours is five-star worthy!

My wife loves those Nespresso machines also and now wants to replace our usual machine with one. I think she's looking forward to our SeaShore cruise on 10/27 in the YC so she can use it some more - it's our usual wake-up treat!

Thank you for taking the time to share your trip - much appreciated!

Have you guys made it to the Brooklyn Cafe? I think that may be called The Loft on the SeaScape. Looking forward to live jazz!

Have your butler deliver you a Bailey's the night before, You can leave it in the fridge.

I am afraid it would not survive the night.  But I like the way you are thinking.

@pirate4me2, after 12+ MSC cruises I am now hearing there is a MSC Signature Cocktail! Where have I been!? Well just goes to prove you learn something new every day.

Is this something different than the MSC Signature Martini?  Or am I getting my cruise lines mixed up again?

What's your Costa Maya plans Stef?

Maya Chan? Free tequila 🙂

Love Maya Chan, that’s our usual place, but we went to Jaime’s at the Blue Reef this time. More on that later.

Aw thanks for the kind words!

We have gone to Brooklyn Cafe twice now. The jazz singer has a beautiful voice! So soothing.

You need to try it! Amaretto, Licor 43, vodka, garnished with a lemon piece. Very good!

Time moved back an hour last night, which after all the drinks we consumed, I needed! I slept in until 8:30 ship time, which was when the ship was docked and cleared for passengers to get off. We didn’t have any pressing plans, our “excursion” for the day was a come and go as you please, so we took our time getting ready and had breakfast in the YC restaurant. The eggs Benedict were a little overdone today but still good. Grilled tomato was yummy.

Something about those grilled tomatoes - I love them. The hash browns too.  I like to build my own 'benni' hashbrown on the bottom with a tomato, then the smoked salmon and capers on top. 🙂

After breakfast, we went back to the room to change and head off the ship. We walked thru the maze (aka port

complex) until we got outside to the taxi area, and hopped in a taxi with a bunch of others headed “downtown.” It was $4 per person, and took maybe 10 minutes to get to our place for the day…Jaime’s at the Blue Reef.

I have a mixed review on our day here. On one hand, the beach area was nice and clean…hardly any seaweed, and it was a nice sandy bottom. You could walk out forever and it didn’t get deep. The chairs and the shady hut thingies were in good condition, and the environment felt safe. There are a lot of vendors that come by…like a constant parade of them…but most of them take a simple “no thank you” and move on.

The service was a bit lacking tho…Digby I think her name was, she had

a bad habit of forgetting drink and food orders. When drinks/food came, it was hit or miss on how it would be. Rum punch was good, mai tai was awful. Tequila shots were yummy! The guacamole was good, and my shrimp tacos were ok…I wish the shrimp was not fried. Whatever sauce they put on them was awesome! A basket of onion rings mysteriously showed up, and i

gotta say, the ranch-like sauce with them was good. Chris’s chicken quesadilla and chicken strips were forgotten, but when they showed up he said the fingers were really good.

After we ate, we went back to the ocean and hung out until it looked like round 2 of storms for the day were coming in. We settled up our bill, and literally as I handed the cash over the sky opened up. We said to heck with it, we are already wet, let’s just go. We went outside and got into a cab to come back to the ship. We were back onboard by 3, and after a shower we settled in for a nap.

We awoke from our slumber…I mean, nap…about 5:15. What is it about cruises that make me need, and I do

mean NEED, an afternoon nap?? I watched Harmony sail off into a storm, then we got ready for dinner in the YC restaurant.

Tonight was good!! I got the shrimp cocktail and broccoli cheddar soup to start, and both were good. For my main

i went with the surf & turf, and I have no regrets! The steak was cooked perfect, and tender, and what few bites I left, Chris proceeded to do away with. The tiramisu dessert was on point. I give dinner a solid A!! Chris seemed pleased with his filet, and he seemed to enjoy the ice cream pyramid dessert.

We went to Topsail for a pre-deck party drink, and at 8:15 we headed to the YC pool deck for our party. It was threatening to rain, but held off for a bit. They had a DJ, snacks, and drinks, and did a bunch of dances like the cha cha and Macarena. It was fun! We left about 9:15 to go back to Topsail to play cards, and shortly after the skies opened up and people came flooding in.

We hung out until 10:45 just enjoying the lounge and talking to others. I really do love that area!

Now it’s bedtime. Tomorrow, Cozumel!
