Thanks so much for this live review.  We are trying MSC YC on Seashore in February so this is extremely helpful. Taking it all in - thanks for taking us along!

Thanks for coming along!

I saw on the Daily you posted that there was the Luna Libre Party scheduled at 9PM on OC, but you're saying it didn't happen?

It happened, and I heard the music, but I’m not sure the location it was at.

Not sure what night #1 was, but last night was tropical night. Loved seeing all the fun outfits people wore!

Disclaimer for this post: I left my phone onboard today, so no pictures of our time on the island. Sorry y’all, but I took pics yesterday, and today I just wanted to live in the moment and soak it all up without worrying about where my phone was/was it in the shade/etc.

We slept in this morning after our bar hopping adventure last night. We woke up at 9 and got dressed to get breakfast from the pool deck buffet. It was a decent selection….eggs to order, arepas, sausage AND bacon, hash browns, pastries, cold cuts, baked beans, fruit, hot & cold cereals, grilled tomatoes, and more. I got an arepa, which was just as good as the ones from Blue Iguana on Carnival, a grilled tomato (yummy!) a hash brown, and some sausage.

After we finished eating we went back to the stateroom to get into our swim gear and slather up with SPF. Before this vacation I went in search of reef friendly sunscreen since I know Ocean Cay is special and I wanted to help support their efforts here. I was skeptical on this “plant based” stuff I found at the local discount grocery, of all places, but it was a decent name brand so I picked it up. I figured for $4.99 if it didn’t work I wouldn’t mind chucking it, but I gotta say…it seems to have worked just as good as the usual not-so-environment-friendly stuff I have used. Yes, we still burned, but that always happens because we suck at remembering to re-apply.

We took the tram to the YC beach area and spent until noon bouncing in the waves. The water was absolutely glorious, the perfect temperature!

Now for a fun story….if you have read some of my previous reviews, you know that Chris and I have this thing going where I buy the most outrageous, obnoxious, blingy, or otherwise annoying sunglasses I can to irk him. It started out innocently when I got some pink sunglasses with fake sparkles on them last year for a whopping 99 cents, and he was appalled by them. However, I have a habit of loosing sunglasses like some people loose cigarette lighters, and he told me “it’s Ok, they won’t last 1 cruise before you loose or break them.” Challenge accepted, honey…those glasses have now survived 6 cruises! I did pack them for this one, BUT I found these pink glasses with palm trees along the top a few months ago that even I thought were pretty hideous, and I decided to “torture” him with them. I have gotten so many remarks on them the past 2 days from staff and fellow passengers, and he just shakes his head.

Anyway…point of all that is that I handed Chris my drink and said “hold this, I’ve gotta cool off” and I went to duck under the water to fully submerge myself. As I was going under Chris yelled, “your glasses!” and I reached up right quick to grab them. HE SAVED THE UGLY GLASSES Y’ALL! He could have easily let me loose them, never to be seen again, but he saved them! You know what this means? I think secretly he LIKES my ugly glasses I buy. He claims that he just didn’t want to hear me cry, but I know better!

At noon we went for lunch at Ocean House, and the menu was the same as yesterday. We ate the same exact meal, minus dessert, and it was just as good. When we finished with that we took a tram back to the ship, which was abound 1:15, and there was not really any line to get on. We breezed thru security and went to the room to take showers, then crashed until 3:30.

We woke up when Seashore blew her horn to depart Ocean Cay. I watched us sail away from the balcony, then told Chris I wanted to come to Topsail to “talk” to you all. We found this setup in the corner, and I gotta say…the chairs are pretty darn comfy!! I grabbed a cucumber sandwich, an avocado egg salad sandwich, and a waiter brought me a tropical iced tea. I just finished typing this segment as I finished my first tea, and a waiter came to bring me another and goes “should I also offer to put your tablet away?” I was confused, and he goes, “You’re on vacation, no working allowed!” So, I am gonna take that as my cue to sign off for now. 😂

After lunch I told Chris we should go check out Bimini Beach in case he was tired of getting beat up by waves at the YC beach. After 10 minutes in the water at Bimini, he said “let’s go back to the waves.” Ok! I won’t argue, I don’t care either way as long as I am in the water.

We hung out at the YC area until 3, when my eyes began to burn. Too much salt air I guess. We came back onboard, and there was no line/wait at all. Chris took a shower while I put our wet floats/swim gear on the balcony, secured by Boca Clips. We took much needed naps until 5:30. That sun will really take it out of you!

We hit dinner in the YC restaurant about 6, and tonight was a total win!! The crab cake was a solid choice, followed by Chris with the pork dish. He said it was tender and delicious. I debated between the stuffed mushroom or the pumpkin risotto, and I let our waiter choose. The risotto was phenomenal! My tiramisu dessert was off the charts good, and Chris got the warm apple crumble that our waiter said to get with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Chris said the apple crumble was good, but he was glad for the ice cream recommendation as it would have been lacking without. Yay, YC dinner was a very solid 9/10 tonight!

Wer finished dinner at 7:05 and went to the 7:30 comedy in the theater. Uhhhh….Nery Saenz was not funny at all. Others agreed with us later as we were talking in the Topsail Lounge. Honestly, we ended up cutting out early to go bar hop/listen to live music.

First, we hit up the Brooklyn Cafe for live jazz at 8. The singer there has a great voice! Very soothing, but honestly…when I think jazz, I think New Orleans jazz, energizing. This was too soothing and I began to fall asleep. Still, I appreciate the voice the singer has….he’s got talent! From there we we went to their sports bar for a few drinks, and the environment there was fun. Very lively, and I woke up! In Times Square area there was some steel drum type music we took a listen to, and then Chris opted to go back to Topsail. He said that honestly this was more his spot. We enjoyed a taste of Johnny Walker Blue (over the drink package price, we paid the difference) and decided that it isn’t quite for us. We finished out with a tequila shot, and now it is time for PIZZA from room service!

Love the sunglass story! I might need to find some "special" sunglasses for our travels. Sounds like it's a great vacation!

Haha they’re a fun joke between the two of us to liven things up! So far it’s been a great vacation. 🙂

I was going to do an afternoon/evening segment for today, but I’m exhausted and calling it a day y’all. Tomorrow is a sea day (our first this cruise, crazy to think!!) so I’ll make sure to double up. Until then….heres a nightcap (frozen toblerone) to get you thru!

Fried for the arepa. Tea was unsweet (they brought sweeteners if you wanted them) and had a flavor almost like hibiscus maybe? Not as tart as lemon.

Where did I leave off yesterday? It was right at dinner time I think.

It was gala night, so about 5:20 Chris and I decided to go dress for dinner. I had to take a pic of the hallway, I love the color scheme on this ship…to me, it’s very aesthetically pleasing. I also like the signal by the door telling the room steward if it’s unoccupied, do not disturb, needing service….its a great idea!

Chris struggled with tonight’s menu. 😞 I was psyched for the blue cheese soufflé, he saw no starter that appealed to him. For my main I got the champagne risotto, which was very good, and he got the beef tenderloin, which he said was cooked perfectly. Dessert for me was the royal chocolate cake (good) while he got the crepe.

We headed to the Topsail for a few post dinner drinks with Jayesh and Adyaska. We had planned to go to the Encore production show, but Nigel was playing the guitar and he was so good we skipped the show to listen to him. I enjoyed an espresso martini, then an old fashion made with tequila. By the time Nigel left and the piano player began we were having fun with the bartenders so we just stayed until 10:30 enjoying whatever they mixed up for us and eating a few snacks.

The room service menu is attached from the pizza we ordered the day before. I forgot to post it then.

A few notes from yesterday, and a random rainbow pic!

Our butler is ok, but our junior butler Windu is great! He’s always around, and his attention to detail is phenomenal. Placing our sunglasses on the MSC cleaning wipes for glasses, noticing I used the Nespresso machine and asking if I wanted a container of cream next time, the slippers by the bed each evening….as Chris said, every detail is thought out. We’ve interacted with him multiple times a day, whereas our actual butler we have only met twice.

Chris wanted me to note that while he may be struggling with the menus, what he has ate has been good, and the meats all cooked perfectly and very tender.

More to come later!

In my experience, the first night is usually casual night.  Presumably because there are those who may not have received their luggage yet!

I love those snails. Usually get two!  Server on formal nights almost almost recommends creating a surf and turf with the lobster and filet. I opted against it recently and enjoyed the pasta.

Many people (myself included) seem to have the same experience with the butler/junior butler. Maybe they're always busy escorting people around the ship?

Our server did try and get me (and Chris) to do a surf & turf, but Chris isn’t a lobster fan, and for some reason I just wasn’t feeling meat last night. I have no regrets tho…that risotto was yummy!

My wife always gets whatever risotto on the menu "..for the table" 😉  They almost always just end up bringing fun different ones out for the whole week in addition to the one she orders.

Ah, great idea!! If there’s a night I'm torn between the risotto and another dish, I’ll do this!

Aaaaaagh! The potato chips in the top sail! I still miss them. Is Jerome still the head bartender?he has a wonderful dry sense of humor. We too ended up spending most evenings in the top sail lounge. I loved the Seashore so much I worry I’ll be disappointed with other ships. Time will tell!
