Rare Lady Arwen Posted August 28 #1 Share Posted August 28 Woke up this morning to the sound of rain and zero visibility, again. 58 degrees F. and forecast for rain pretty much all day. At least those who want to get out and about don’t have to worry about tenders today. A lot of us are sitting around the Piazza having coffee and IC snacks. The buffet is probably a zoo. Our Sanctuary will probably not open today due to rain and cold. No interest in doing this itinerary again. Went to The Catch again last night. It was great! That’s all I’ve got for today. Tomorrow is Halifax and the weather looks very promising. Crossed fingers. Ingrid
Rare Lady Arwen Posted August 28 Author #2 Share Posted August 28 A lovely Filipino family just walked through through the Piazza wearing parkas! Five armed police officers are quickly walking around the shops onboard. Routine call or an issue? Stay tuned! lol
Rare cr8tiv1 Posted August 28 #3 Share Posted August 28 Wow, you have a very exciting cruise. I did this similar cruise twice in 2023. Loved every port (except for Covid). Nice change from the West Coast itinerary choices. Please keep us updated with the posse on board.

You know us crazy Canucks and our legal cannabis. lol Still raining and cold. Feels like October. I would not want to be sailing this itinerary later in the fall! You would definitely need to bring your long underwear. The Piazza turned into the kids play area and they ran in circles chasing each other until one fell and smacked her head on a chair. It’s okay, she got up and started running around again with her parents cheering her on. Loads of fun. Not. 2

It was very foggy in Bar Harbor and even worse yesterday (Wednesday) in St. John, where it rained and was chilly all day and into the night. Very typical of Maritime provinces weather. It’s either good or bloody awful! lol

grimace95120 Posted August 30 #13 Share Posted August 30 Hi all, this question is for those of you who have 1) sailed out of New York and 2) have a beverage package. I was reading the Terms and conditions of the Princess packages ( fascinating read lol) and stumbled across this : On sailings that begin in ports in the United States of California, Massachusetts, New York, Texas, Virginia and Washington, the alcoholic beverages portion of a Package will not take effect until the ship on which the guest is sailing is in international waters, as determined by Princess Cruises, and therefore any alcoholic beverages purchased by a guest before a ship is in international waters will be charged to a guest’s onboard account; no discounts will be provided to the Package price or refunds as a result of this. My interpretation of this is if I order a glass of wine on embarkation day while the ship is still in port, my Premier package will not be honored, I will see a full charge for this on my folio. For those of you with In real life experience, what is your take on this?. Since the first port stop is Bar Harbor, does the ship even get into international waters? Appreciate anyones perspective on this
grimace95120 Posted August 30 #14 Share Posted August 30 Sorry, got my port order wrong, its Newport RI that's up first
Treasure Hunter Posted August 30 #15 Share Posted August 30 You are in International waters usually by 8:00 if the ship leaves at five ( the casino opens at the same time. People drink as soon as they board but additional tax is added ( New York City tax). I’ve never had a package but I’m pretty sure they are honored.

Definitely had several drinks before a late departure and there are no charges showing on either folio.

BlufftonCruisers Posted August 30 #19 Share Posted August 30 We are sailing from Boston in a couple of weeks. How is embarkation from the Boston Princess terminal? How early do they begin embarkation? Appreciate any feedback. Thank you.

Porters go around and collect your luggage. Then comes the security screening. One line for all, no Elites honored. It was a long line, way outside the terminal (but at least covered). Then, the checkin: Even Blue Lane was very fast, it took about a minute. Then it became a little chaotic, because there was no Elite Priority Boarding honored somehow. But after all, I was on the ship in about 25 Minutes. Date: Aug 11, 2024, Time: 10:30 AM. The cabin was ready around noon. Baggage was delivered to the cabin at 1:00PM (a new record). Appreciate anyones perspective on this I would like to know this answer as well. First time sailing on Princess and new to Princess Plus- sailed out of NY on NCL drink package and you are only charged for taxes before being in international waters I would think that would be the case as well. If someone can clarify that just would be good to know
