DSCBDA Posted September 1 #1 Share Posted September 1 Hello! I was just watching a Youtuber who had gone out on The SKY for a weekender to the Bahamas from Miami this past week. She shared that she was able to check her roll-on luggage at the Mojito Bar and they would hold it until 3pm,. I've never heard of this on NCL... maybe it's new? Does anyone know if the JOY offers the same service? Thanks!
Rare ziggyuk Posted September 1 #2 Share Posted September 1 I think they all have it, we always drop our bags until the cabin is ready, it's often in the Bliss lounge.

On our cruise, it was underutilized.
schmoopie17 Posted September 1 #4 Share Posted September 1 We're doing carry-ons for the first time on the Escape. Can we count on having a drop-off, or should we just go ahead and check them? We'd hate to have to drag them around if there's no drop-off.

This is the correct location for the Joy but on our cruise in June, it was quite full by the time we went to pick up our bags. When you drop off your bag, you receive a claim tag...just hand it to the attendant upon your return and they will retrieve your bag from the row it was placed in. It was very organized and secure.

I would never drop my bags with anyone except the porters on the curbside. We have small backpacks that suffice until our bags are delivered to our room. This photo was taken around 1:15ish (we had already had lunch and were walking the ship). There were claim tags. But very few took advantage of the service. People get ideas that bag drops are like big hotels with are numbered shelving and lockers. Whether at a sea door next to Q, or the casino, or Bliss lounge, it is just the floor. Stuff is neatly organized, but your bags are just thrown on the floor. Been that way since they cut the room stewards to 1 service a day and nearly doubled the number of rooms that they need to turn over, delaying room availability. Not every cruise is the same...while your cruise did not have people taking advantage of this service, my cruise did. And my bag was not thrown on the floor...I was allowed to place it myself up along the wall (one of us had a rolling carry on and I placed my tote on top of his bag). I am just wondering who was able to bring on a case of water, as shown in your photo, as I have never seen that on an NCL ship.

Thanks for the information! --- And thanks for visiting us here in Bermuda! The JOY wrapped up her Bermy port calls for the season this weekend. I'll be onboard with some family out of Miami this coming October.

At first I thought CPAP machine but I believe those are operated with distilled water only, correct? Looks like it's just Aquafina.

We always brought a case when it was still allowed.

The photo was from May 2024. The case of water was contraband and an NCL prohibited item that the port security people, incorrectly, allowed through. That being said, the port people do not work for NCL and could be doing check-in for NCL one day, MSC the next day, Viking the next day, Princess the next day, Carnival the next day, Cunard the next day. And they don't always remember the rules for the cruise line they are supporting that day. Edited September 2 by BirdTravels

erisajd Posted September 2 #13 Share Posted September 2 if you are in the Haven you will be escorted to your cabin and able to drop your bags upon embarkation - just tell the NCL concierge or whomever is stationed in the lounge you wish to drop your bags - We only travel carry on and always get an escort to our cabin and are allowed to drop bags in the room - which - given the haven staffing is usually ready when we drop - but- doesn't matter - we drop our bags, verify gym location, and go back to the Haven lounge for our first Grey Goose Bloody Mary and then lunch in the Haven restaurant -
