Will you be flying into Vancouver Airport or arriving by some other means?  Are you wanting to stay for a couple days to explore the area or just coming in for the cruise?  I ask because there are lots of good places to stay depending on if you want very close proximity to the cruise port, or close proximity to the airport so you can just relax as soon as you arrive in the city.

Hi @iiplus:  Here's a good basic site to give you some ideas that's backed up by other cruisers... https://allcruisehotels.com/blog/best-hotels-near-vancouver-cruise-port/#port

- warning:  Vancouver hotels are NOT cheap, even NYC near Times Square will net you better deals, but it is what it is.  I would suggest staying at an hotel near the airport as it's quieter and getting an Uber or taxi will be easy 1/2 hr trip (barring any traffic incidents/construction issues) and most likely cheaper than one close to the cruise port even if within walking distance.  I used to live down there quite a few years ago but haven't needed to stay in town for quite a while.

Another suggestion is if you belong to any discount or coupon type site like Groupon or Travelzoo or Hotwire etc, take a look for random hotel deals in the city.  I use those sites a lot when we only need a room for the night and all we want is a good sleep without worrying about sightseeing possibilities.  If you are checking out AirBnB - British Columbia has enacted laws to limit their availability because there is an affordable housing shortage here and short term rentals have exacerbated the problem.  Make sure you are getting a legally allowed/licenced space so you don't have any problems.  Best wishes and bon voyage!

Wow isn't that the truth I just started looking for July 2025 and I'm shocked at what hotels cost near the cruise port.  I finally booked the Hilton Vancouver Metrotown as I could get a two room suite with a sofa bed for one of the grandkids for less than a Hyatt with just a hotel room.

Vancouver hotels might not be cheap, but I travel to Manhattan and Vancouver on business and Vancouver is 40% - 50% cheaper than Manhattan for an equivalent hotel. In an early November trip I have a rate of $370 USD for waterfront view at the Fairmont and a week later I am paying $820 USD for a Central Park view in Manhattan.

The OPs issue is waiting too long to book. The Days Inn Vancouver Downtown is usually under $200 USD. The same Wyndham room near Times Square is $300 or more.

True words, I book hotels, sometime multiple, as soon as I think we are going someplace.  We sail on a NYE cruise out of Miami and I booked those hotels almost one year ago.  My Hilton Downtown ocean view balcony room is now double what I booked it for.  The Doubletree Gallery one in Fort Lauderdale I had booked a two bedroom suite with living room and kitchen last year for $475 per night.  It's now almost a $1000 per night.     BOOK EARLY AND BOOK OFTEN!

During the summer Alaska cruise season the Vancouver Fairmont hotel rates are triple the $370.00 rate you were given for November.

I priced it for July 2025 and it's around $750 for Fairmont Pacific Rim and $575 for Fairmont Waterfront for our dates.

Not to be pedantic, but I checked the Fairmont Waterfront for Mid-July, several dates, and the rate never exceeded $750, so double, not triple, and apparently the rates are seasonal. Manhattan really is not. It is expensive just about anytime, with rare exceptions.

Depending on how much luggage you are dealing with it is super safe, quick and way cheaper to just hop on the Canada Line for the Sky Train directly from the airport to downtown.  There are two stops near the port - the last and second last stops will have you near a number of hotels.  It was less than $10 per person to train from the airport to downtown.

I was just in Vancouver stayed a the Hyatt and it was an easy walk to  Canada Place where the ships depart.  I was there for a conference and got to see a different ship in port each day... as a cruise fanatic it killed me each morning to see the ships and know I wasn't jumping on one LOL but that is okay 48 days until we sail again....

The Vancouver hotels definitely know when cruise season starts.  I see hotel deals that run during the winter with applicable dates that basically end when the first ships are in town.

I highly recommend the JW Marriott near the BC Arena, especially if you’re arriving a few days before a cruise and want to see other neighborhoods of Vancouver. It’s near the water taxis that will get you around town very well, even the famous market.

There is a sports bar and casino associated with the hotel but next door with a separate entrance. We got a price at JW just a bit more than the nearby Hampton Inn and the JW is far superior to that hotel (Hampton Inn needs some TLC)
One important hint about getting to Canada Place for a cruise - - take a taxi from your hotel and not an Uber. Taxis have access to drop you off underneath Canada Place and porters are ready to collect your bags for an easier embarkation. Ubers, on the other hand, drop you off a looong block away outside the Terminal and you have your walk Canada Place. A rainy day will make the walk a mess.

Looking for recommendations for a nice hotel you've stayed at very close to the port that includes a shuttle to the port. I'm splitting the cost with a friend so even if it costs a little more to be right at the port I'm still saving 50%. 😁 TIA

@rrraydon Pan Pacific Hotel is right on top of the cruise port.  No shuttle needed and bell staff will take your luggage from your room and drop it at the ship for only the cost of a tip. Can't get any closer than that!

There are many, many hotel recommendations in the posts on this forum.  Have you read them yet?  Your budget matters as they vary widely.

Have a great trip!

~Nancy
