Rare BirdTravels Posted 9 hours ago #1 Share Posted 9 hours ago Join The Bird, *live*, from the world’s biggest weekend on the stunning Utopia of the Seas. The Utopia is Royal Caribbean’s newest Oasis-class ship. She is the first powered by liquified natural gas. Her keel was laid on July 1, 2022 and she was delivered to Royal Caribbean on June 13, 2024. Godmother Meghan Trainor christened the ship on July 15, 2024. She has a double occupancy capacity of 5668 guests in 2834 staterooms, supported by 2290 hard working crew members. At 236,473 gross tons, the Utopia of the Seas is the second largest cruise ship in the world. How do you party on the Utopia? There are 23 bars and lounges, 6 dance spots, 5 pools, 8 jacuzzis, 3 water slides, 21 dining options, 5 live music venues, and the new Train Car dining experience. Where are we going this weekend? You'll probably be just floating around in the water half the night. I'd hardly call that cruising. What a waste of a brand new ship.

You can see the track from previous sailings in cruisemapper. While it doesn't show the speed you can tell they do not typically "float" around. In most cases they go out into "open" water at a reasonable speed to be able to make on board water.

I think that almost every knows that CocoCay and Nassau is a pair of ports that are on almost every Eastern Caribbean itinerary. Royal and most every other cruise line stop at their respective private islands and Nassau. The waters around the island are shallow. They need to get in deeper water to dump food waste and treated water and then take on water. They really don’t have much time to make water. They were bunkering water in Port Canaveral today.
