Archipelago Posted April 8, 2006 #1 Share Posted April 8, 2006 I wanted to ask about the fitness facility and the laundry on SD1. Is there a self serve laundry or can laundry be sent out ? I use the fitness facilities a lot and will need to have laundry done some .
Jim Avery Posted April 8, 2006 #2 Share Posted April 8, 2006 No self serve laundry but full service available. Prices seemed about the same as other ships charge. No real staff in the exercise facility and it is small but nicely done. I always intend to work out every day but somehow, I have never used this facility. Must have something to do with the requesite 8lbs I seem to gain with each cruise. When I lose the 8lbs then it is time to cruise again, like next week. All the best, Jim. ctbjr1309 Posted April 8, 2006 #3 Share Posted April 8, 2006 WHAT? There's an exercise facility on the ships? How could I have missed it? Oh, that's right it's not within stumbling distance of the Top of the Yacht Bar.
Jim Avery Posted April 8, 2006 #4 Share Posted April 8, 2006 You are completely correct. They place way too many temptations between me and the exercycle. I feel a Mojito coming on. Jim.
Archipelago Posted April 8, 2006 Author #5 Share Posted April 8, 2006 I am a diabetic so using the treadmill keeps me from having to take medication. I can have what I want to eat and drink as long as I keep up with the exercise !!:)
Rare DisneyJen Posted April 8, 2006 #6 Share Posted April 8, 2006 Actually the golf simulator is a wonderful way to get some exercise as well. Of course you can follows DH's regiment, which includes after dinner drinks at Top of the Yacht and while on the way back from the restroom, a quick hole or two in the simulator:o
Archipelago Posted April 8, 2006 Author #7 Share Posted April 8, 2006 I've never used a golf simulator so that will be interesting to see . I am looking forward to trying SD1. I must say though that my only concern is that traveling solo I may not fit in as I would on Seabourn or Silversea.:o
Rare DisneyJen Posted April 9, 2006 #8 Share Posted April 9, 2006 No worries Archipelago! One of my friends who posts here at Frequent Traveler did a solo crossing in the fall. FT had a wonderful time. You may want to browse a few pages back to see FT's report on her solo crossing.
magooatsea Posted April 9, 2006 #9 Share Posted April 9, 2006 My husband is an Ironman athlete and he uses the exercise room religiously. The minute we get on board he's in the gym while I unpack, and just before the party starts. In fact we're cruising 2 weeks right before the IM World Championships and he's not worried. The facilities are barely used. (as you can probably imagine) The treadmills are top rate and fairly easy to use while we're at sea. (minimal rockin' and rollin') He's such a fanatic our stateroom is next to the gym. It's very quiet up there :)
