Hi, I am so happy to have you with us!!!!

We had a room in that area once . There are 2 hallways there, we were down the one closest to the theater.

It was so nice and quiet there!!!

At night nobody went down our hallway unless they had a cabin there because our hallway goes no where.

During the day the kids counselors often take the kids down the hallway to a employee stairway to the buffet for them. But that is only at meal time, not late or early when you are trying to leep.

It was kind of cute to look out and see this long line of little kids marching down the hallway to go to lunch.

Plus since the room are past the elevators to go towards the theater you dont get that traffic either.

The Aft part of the ship is our favorite place to be. It i so close to the buffet, animators palate, and parrot cay and the pools.

You have a great location!!!

WELCOME ABOARD!!!

Thanks Kathy. That is good to hear. Are you reading some of the recent posts regarding people geting sick on the last Magic sailing? I have been on several cruises and never had any problems with the exception of the last cruise about 3 years ago when my 3 year old daughter caught a bad cold the second day. Perhaps she was exposed before the trip but the intestinal disorders I am reading about are really starting to worry me. Have you had any problems like this?

Thanks.

Hi,

my husband got sick once but not real bad. Just flet off and had abad headache for a few days.

I look at it this way. we are going to be in close quarters with alot of different people from all over, and some of them will not be feeling well, but dont want to miss their trip or stay in their room for a day or two, so they are going to spread their germs to others. There is NO way around it. Anywhere you have that many people all in close areas together it is bound to happen to some.

DCL does give wipes to you outside every restaurant and all the kids in the clubs use them all the time too. The worst places for germs are the elevator buttons and handrails throughout the ship. everyone uses handrails going up and down the stairs or push the elevator buttons.

I bring a pocket size bottle of hand sanitizer and I use it often. If I go to participate in something, once I get to the room, I use it, then when I get to my next destination, I use it etc...

It's not as hard to do as it sounds. I have caught a cold a couple of times, but my grandkids had them first, so I may of caught it from them, not the cruise.

For the most part very few get ill, I believe after 12 cruises that once in awhile someone will come aboard who has a nasty stomach virus and it will spread fast to many , many people. Just like if you had an office worker in the next cubicle, they spread it fast, it gets int he air, so to speak. Illness is just a chance we all take everyday, so I dont worry about it.

I do try to wash hands more often, and make sure to wash long enough with hot soapy water. Most wash a few seconds, doctors will tell you it takes quite a while to kill the germs. We were told to sing happy birthday twice and the germs will be dead.

The 9/23 and 9/30 magic cruises definatley had a bad virus running through them. I was suppose to be on the 9/23 but we rescheduled it.

Once you are on board, you will notice the CM'S are always cleaning. Day or night if you watch they are constantly cleaning and sanitizing. I was very impressed when I saw this, especially on days we are in port, they really clean!!

So I would say, dont worry, but be cautious just like you would at work or school if soemthing was going around. It is just the luck of the draw.

We have never had a bad virus yet. so chin up!!!

I'm sure others will check in and say Hi to you soon too. People here are very nice and helpful.

we are having a meet on the first day at 3 p.m. in the Promenade lounge. There will be people there from another board too. I hope you will join us and we can meet in person. Just ask for Kathy!! I will be easy to find.

Our other group will all have on bright lime green t-shirts on with a wild turkey and dancing banana on them. Long story there.

Thanks for helping put my mind at ease. I will stock up on the hand sanitizer. We use it a lot anyway and try to wash hands frequently...we rarely get sick. As for me...my name is Geoff. We live in West Palm Beach. I am 45 and my wife is about that!! Ha ha! We have one little girl named Nancy. (We are old parents, ha!) She will turn 6 a week before the trip. We have two other families traveling with us...about 12 in all. There may even be another one that may come too if there are still cabins available. All the kids and adults are close friends and go to school together so they are going to have a blast.

Let me ask you one more question if I may? My wife is allergic to cigarette smoke. I see smoking is allowed in only a few areas. Is this a problem? My biggest fear is that we will get a cabin that has been smoked in. We always ask for non smoking hotel rooms but they say smoking is only allowed on the verandas in cabins but unfortunatly people do not comply always and if the room has been smoked in, my wife will go balistic. ..she normally adapts to the situation but smoke is another issue. Thanks.

Hi Geoff,

No worries about smokey smelling rooms.

My husband is also allergic to cigarette smoke, he has asthma.

I just plain hate the smell, but dont get ill.

Anyway they warn people there are smoke alarms in the rooms that are super sensitive. If you smoke in your room an alarm will go off in the security room, they will call your room or check it out in person and you will be put OFF the ship at the next port is you are caught smoking in your room. I dont know if would really do it, but that is what they tell you.

Sessions lounge and the sports lounge do allow smoking, but the main club, rock n bar D and the Promenade lounge and studio sea are all smoke free!!! Those are the most popular lounges anyway.

There is NO smoking on either deck by the Mickey pool.

The rest of decks 4, 9 , and 10 are No smoking on one side and smoking on the other side. Sorry I cant remember if it is port or starboard that is ok to smoke. It is the side of the ship that the adult quiet cove cafe is on.

There are signs and they have it in writing on several papers you will receive.

Of course there is always somebody on the wrong side having a smoke, but if they see them, they will ask them to put it out!!

Now the only problem I have really heard of is you can smoke on the verandah's. So if you have a verandah room your neighbot may be out on his balcony smoking, so you cant go out and enjoy your balcony.

This hasnt happened to me, but I have read of others it has happened to.

we have not had a bad problem with it on DCL.

Other lines allow more smoking than DCL does. When you walk by some clubs or casino it is like the smog in L.A.

well we are a "few" years older than you, I wont say just how many, ha! Ha! I will give you a clue though, Our oldest grandkid is 15.

My kids claim to of seen my picture drawn on some cave wall on a field trip once and they often ask me if it was fun to ride a dinosaur to school??

Your daughter is the perfect age for the cruise!!! She is young enough to enjoy the "Magic of disney" That will be priceless.

we live in Fruitland Park Florida, it is a tiny town near Leesburg. It takes about 90 minutes to get to the port from here and an hour to get to WDW. We have lived in florida for almost 7 years now, before that we were both born and raised in Oregon.

By my name you can probably tell we have 4 kids and 4 grandkids.

This will be #13 DCL cruise for us and we have 2 more booked in 07.

we go to WDW almost every weekend, we just love to act like a kid and have fun. I can think of no better place than WDW to do that.

If you have any other questions, please ask and i will try to answer them for you. we have cruised with people from ages 18 months to 62 years old, so we have experienced moat areas of the ship.

I have not gone to the spa or weight room or Palos, but i do know people who have shared their experience with me.

looking forward to getting to know you and your family during the next few weeks and hopefully you will drop by the meet on board.

Hey Geoff...welcome! Glad your with us. We may be neighbors...we're in a category 6--deck 5 aft! I do have to tell ya that my wife and I do smoke---terrible habit and we're working to quit but we're still in the grip of it. We do respect the no smoking in the rooms and the other "off-limits" areas of the ship. We shut the door when we're out on the verandah. As for the "sick" part... I think Disney is great about their sanitary efforts. The hand sanitizing stations and the efforts the crew seem to make are great. We didn't have any sickness on our last cruise and from reading the posts and boards over the last year, I still think Disney is amoung the best in that category. If ya get a chance,.... I hope you'll be able to meet the rest of our "happy clan".

Again, Welcome Welcome.

Thanks Bill. I have no problem with peple who smoke that are considerate of non smokers and abide by bthe rules. It sounds like we don't have anything to worry about and we are looking foward to this trip. I have heard many great things about the Disney cruise.

We now have 4 families (14 people) travelling with us which will be fun. It will be fun to meet each of you. Let the countdown begin!!!

Funny quick story.....Back in the summer we travelled to Cape Canaveral to see the Shuttle launch. Drove 3 hours from West Palm Beach to have it get cancelled at the last minute. The point is we drove right to the port which is one of the best launch viewing sites. While there the Magic was docked and loading guests and I remember how much I wanted to go on that cruise. I felt bad for the people however since they thought they were getting a double benefit...the begining of a Disney Cruise and the best seat possible to watch the space shuttle launch all at the same time but it got delayed. Too bad!!! For those who have never been to this Port, you can see the massive assembly building that houses the Shuttle. If the shuttle happens to be on the pad prepping for a launch you can see it as well. See you next month!

Hi Bill,

Thanks for the nanas, just what I needed!! I already dream I am counting them by the thousands!!!

Geoff,

we were lucky enough to be on the magic to witness the launch of a atlas missle once. It was quite a site to see. we even gotit on our cam, corder.

we use to live where we could see the shuttle go up just moments after launch. that was great.

It was cloudy the last launch, so i dont know if I can see it from my new address.

will check back with everyone tomarrow.

Geoff, bring all the families if you want toour meet. I will remind you of the details just before the cruise,

Oh my....its getting very deep in here...where are my hip waders????

I've known you now for about 8 months and you're one of the kindest, sweetest ladies around...who are you trying to kid, anyways!!!??? Honestly, Woo and I began to post on 3-17-06....7 MONTHS tomorrow and this trip has just taken such a turn for us. I gave it to her as a 10 anniversary present and a 40th birthday present and we had every intention of going by ourselves and just having a nice quiet cruise-enjoying what DCL had to offer. Now, its all changed. We're still excited to see the ship and do the cruise but I think we're more excited to meet everyone! Its just been such a pleasure to get to know all the great folks over the past few...I just know this is gonna be a week we'll never forget.

Kathy....most of our gang doesn't get here very often,...if you mention this outpour of sentimental garbage on my part....I swear, I'll deny every word---2725.gif grrrrr....see? I'm still a mean mutt...grrrr 2725.gif.

Have a good one....hope to hear from ya Geoff.

Sorry I had to ruin your "rep" Kathy....I calls em as I sees em....lol.

Mutt,

No worries, even if I told someone what you said they would NEVER believe me!!!

My REP has been runied before, after all I have met many cruisers on all my cruise meets in the past. And a few of them have posted on my threads and told others about me  . I cant repeat what they said!!!

The best part of all of our cruises has been meeting the awesome people we have met on these boards, then seeing them all over the ship all week long. It is so much fun to stop for a couple minutes to ask what they have been doing and to see the excitement in the faces as they tell you about it. That is a highlight for us everytime.

It's my bedtime, have to be up by 5a.m.

Nite all,

Kathy
