Rare Lois R Posted April 30, 2006 #2 Share Posted April 30, 2006 I know, I know, she will probably look lovely AFTER they finish... but for me...it is sad to see that:(.......... One stupid question please....what did they use to do that? A bulldozer comes into a certain spot? Or are ships done differently?
chily3 Posted April 30, 2006 #3 Share Posted April 30, 2006 As I understand it, she is being cut in the middle and a new section added which will include specialty restaurant amoung other things. Also numerous verandas will be added as well. Guess she will be a new Mille class or very close to it. mike:) or :( depends on how you look at it. Century is NOT being cut in half. That was the original plan, but that is definately not happening with this refurbishment. Century will be very close to M-Class when the work is completed. florisdekort Posted April 30, 2006 Author #8 Share Posted April 30, 2006 floris, OUCH OUCH OUCH:eek: ;) It has been four weeks, I am sure by now we can make a minor joke about those two cruises from hell... Just wondering... will the webcam remain on during the entire operation? I would be fun to monitor the progress!
bepsf Posted April 30, 2006 #9 Share Posted April 30, 2006 Looks like the cam is on Resort Deck, portside facing aft - looking along the open deck alongside the therapy/treatment rooms? What were they planning to do to that space? Interesting choice of paper they used to wrap the teak railings with...

darrencantwait Posted April 30, 2006 #11 Share Posted April 30, 2006 Floris -- thanks for the heads-up. I kept checking the webcam and noticed it was locked up on that debarkation image from Barcelona. Fun to see what's happening to Century. If anybody saw the Discovery Channel show "Drydock: A Ship Reborn" about Soveriegn of teh Seas having balconies added, you'll have an idea of what's about to happen. CRAZY! excitedofharpenden Posted April 30, 2006 #12 Share Posted April 30, 2006 Looks like the cam is on Resort Deck, portside facing aft - looking along the open deck alongside the therapy/treatment rooms? The cam is on the Promenade Deck facing forward. Not the place for a gentle stroll after dinner at the moment. Thanks for the heads up Floris. I hope they do keep the cam on for a bit. Andy Posted April 30, 2006 #13 Share Posted April 30, 2006 Just wondering... will the webcam remain on during the entire operation? I would be fun to monitor the progress! I agree, but I highly doubt we will get to see much from that view, other than what is getting thrown in the garbage LOL. I tried looking for a webcam for the Fincantieri shipyard in Palermo to see if we can get a better view of the progress. So far, I have had no luck. I will keep trying though. Rare Lois R Posted April 30, 2006 #14 Share Posted April 30, 2006 Floris, sorry that was just the first thing that came to my mind. I knew your post didn't mean any harm...that is why I winked;) I do hope Century will have the same ambiance afterwards. I have a deposit for March 2007 for my birthday:)

Cruise Arizona Posted April 30, 2006 #16 Share Posted April 30, 2006 Floris, Glad to see your post, I look foreward to seeing the new Century. Should be great once its done, though some of the changes may be for the worst like getting rid of the T-pool. I haven't been as regular over here since the incident, Have you posted a review of your SA cruises. I think you were on the one with the accident. If you've posted, please just let me know where to find it, or you know where to find where we're hiding out most of the time. !!!

I think you were on the one with the accident. Hi Cruise Arizona! Yes, we were on the cruise with the accident, although we were on the 2-night Manchu Picchu excursion when it happened. I didn't bother to write a review yet, because I am still upset about the incident you refer to. And because I feel there is too much negativity on these boards... especially about Millennium. I've stopped going against it, it has proven to be impossible. Best Regards, Floris
Cruise Arizona Posted May 1, 2006 #20 Share Posted May 1, 2006 The owels were formost concerned with your safety and the we ALL wanted to know what your cruise experience was like!!!! Anyway, WOW, Machu PIchu!!! Fromers Budget Travel had a recent issue on Dream Trips, and this was definitely one of them. I had some neighbors who had nothing but negatives to say about Celebrity, so it would be nice to see your review aboutthe total experience of the two cruises!!!! I think your know where to find us!!!! We were all so worried about you!!!

Andy Posted May 1, 2006 #23 Share Posted May 1, 2006 OIC!(Strange place for a Bridgecam) Still on so far! I agree, but it has been there since it was installed. I would like to see them add an actual BRIDGEcam like they have on the M-Class ships, during the refurbishment.
Andy Posted May 1, 2006 #24 Share Posted May 1, 2006 It's amazing how they got rid of ALL of that debris in just a few hours. That's what I call great teamwork !
