Don't worry - I didn't take it as a flame... I'm just trying to remind people how easily their pictures can be taken and used by others... What webshots and whatever this other website has done is just mild... If you've followed the explosion of child/adult porn on the web and everything that is being discussed but politicians and across the news media lately, you'll see person after person expressing disbelieve at what people do with photos, the internet and other technology.

 

And no, I am not obsessed, nor am I paranoid about this, but I do have friend who work in an industry that have seen people manipulate photos in the most fascinating ways - it's so easy to take your picture and change bodies, heads, background.

 

Remember the Alyssa Milano dirty pictures scandal??

 

Just trying to help you keep you and yours safe...

 

Which is why I would never post a photo with a person in it. Too many whacko's out there today plus people like this person who think nothing of using photos without permission.

Just wanted to let the users on this forum know that Cruise News Daily did an article on this specific topic today. Alan of CND did a very good job with the article.

 

I had to laugh at the last part of his article where he pointed out the legal warning on CruiseStateroom.com's website that says "USE OF SITE. You may view this site for personal, non-commercial informational purposes and do not have a right to use, copy or reproduce any of the content." My guess is the owner of the site knew exactly what he was doing when he lifted our photos.

 

Also, none of my photos were on webshots website, they were on a website created with my .Mac account. Pictures were stolen from a number of sources, not just webshots.

Unfortuntely it is copyrighted, so it would be illegal to copy it here....

 

If you read this entire thread, you would have a good grasp of what the article is about.

Glad to see this guy's been "outed". The more I read this thread, the angrier I start to get about what this guy did. It's sad, because it's a great idea.

Wow, I have missed a lot since I first posted my displeasure with the cruisedeckplans website. I really expected everyone to flame me for going against the grain about them using my photos. They have contacted me in response to my e-mail and have offered to pay me for them. After reading what is going on with them, I am inclined to just have them removed. I didn't want payment, I was only amazed at them using them to bolster their website, without permission. And yes, they are copyrighted photos.

 

PS: Their website is "down for maintenance" - Hmm, I wonder why?

Just received a very polite e-mail that the photos would be removed. I haven't checked, as they are down for maitenance. I don't know if I have been banned, also.

 

I still haven't heard a word from him. And the last time I checked I was still banned. I could go to the other website though (link is several messages back). Weird.:confused:

However, the question is did the owner of the site modify the pay version and remove all of the pictures or did he keep them up figuring that the general public wouldn't notice since they didn't want to spend money for the pay site. I hope he removed them from the pay site but since no one has confirmed this to date we can only say that at least the huge backlash has prompted the owner of the site to remove the images from the public displays.

Hum, looks like he is rethinking his practices. It explains that he is doing maintenance and you can only see 360 views now and transfers you to a TA's page, revenue there while he's down?

 

Now, this is also the second thread I noticed an advertisement within the thread and that is beginning to make me wonder. Go back to page 1 and second post is an advertisement? What's up with that? Not going to be happy if I have to look at ads between post. Anyone else notice this in the past week or so?

Dawna if you're talking about the threads on CC in your second paragraph this has been happening for a couple of weeks now. They were running them down the right side of the page for a while, but people get pretty upset. As I see it CC has to make money somehow. It's one of the most heavily trafficked sites on the internet. They need to pay for bandwidth and other services. They get that money through ads. There's no way to do it for free.

 

Hopefully it will fix the August slow down we seem to get here every year.

I do understand if we want this site to remain free someone need to advertise on it, wish I had someone to pay for my speed. See my TA's link up top sometimes. Honestly can't say I have ever noticed them running down the right on a thread though, just the main page or other pages you visit within the site. Maybe I was just concentrating on what was being said. :) BTW Congrats on you hard work and a Tri, wow.

 

While I am on the complaint banwagon I don't think this thread should be on photo gallery.. Didn't even know it existed. I found it through User CP since I was trying to get a peek of Vision 8088 and thought Sake's site would get me there.

This thread originated on the Royal Carribean thread. It didn't really fit into the the topic of the thread which is why it was moved here.

 

This website originally was a AOL keyword sites years ago (I used to post under my AOL screen name) and went WWW and is sponsored by a travel agency. Many don't realize this. Actually I don't think the Ads are that big of a deal as there's only 2 a page (after the first post and on the bottom). I've seen busier Ads on other sites.

 

I guess this thread had some sort of impact to cause the owner (talking cruisedeckplans) to change his website. I never did get an e-mail but he did remove my photos.

Thanks for the tip here. I sent them my URL to my pics and they just deposited $80 into my Pay Pal Account. WOW,, that a deal.

 

They could have had the pictures for free if they asked.
